Received Deyan’s double adaptor this morning, it matches my Ultimate perfectly, no need to worry about sitting at the wrong angle in relation to the other tubes- the top rotates - fantastic, they should all be like this, put my cheap Russian 6S3P WoW how nice are these, got a pair of LaRadiotechnique EC86 coming for comparisons but the Ruskis are pretty darn good at a couple of $’s each.

What kind of adapter is that on the driver section?
Looks nice and simple.
How are the 807 Haltron doing?

@LoryWiv

Slightly envious of your Gec KT88.😇😇😇😇😇
Look great and hope I find another nice pair when I get the chance. Also nice to see the 6K6 harmonise with them.
BTW I don't have a Super Ultimate but the Junior the wood version.
This version was the high version of the Mini Ultimate before the Super Ultimate was available.
That's why I'm dependent on the 6J5 adapter in this respect.
I hope I can buy a Super Ultimate this year, but I'll have to sell the Euforia and buy fewer tubes,🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈.

The adaptor was skilfully made by Deyan, you can rotate the top plate to your liking, the 807s are a lovely tube, I have Russian, American and Australian made according to the stamps, I prefer the USA made so far but I have Ulyanovsk 807 on the way, also 5B254A on the way.a small 807. This UltimatE is cheaper on tubes than the Super needing only 1 driver tube. Sounds just as good. I’m not missing the other driver. Especially with the Deyan adaptor. Sweet :)

Makes sense, Greg. Thanks for clarifying.

Partial day off for US Memorial Day holiday today so reached deeper into my tube stash and found a very satisfying roll. Nothing "flashy", just balanced and musical. Listening to the autumnal brilliance of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Book II, written in 1742 twenty years after Book I, and the two plus hours of this music just flow by like a river, gentle on the surface but carrying immense power in it's depths. Very grateful for this music and the privilege of listening to it through great gear.

Mullard EZ80, Ken-Rad VT-107A, Amperex Bugle Boy 12AU7-ECC82 & Visseaux 6F6GT below. Currently selected are the Ken-Rad drivers and Meze Elite over the ears. Bliss.

I don't think Ive come across an 807 I don't like , these are Hytron JAN VT100 807 made in 1944, they have a lovely semi transparent grey glass and sound wonderfull . Especially with vocals like in this track , no idea what she's singing about but it sounds beautiful .
Tung Sol 6BW4, HYTRON 807, Driven by Svetlana 'winged C' 6S8S CV6 6J5, not in use GEC A2900.

welcome back and you can add 5B/254A as well as 5B/254M.
5B/254M is an output tube I'm not sure about 5B/254A and prefer to keep quiet, let the pros answer it.
I will keep catching up, and hope in the next 2 pages someone provided more info (which adapters needed, for example?) and with more conviction

Edit: just finished catching up, and no more details were provided...
I will be happy to add any confirmed safe tubes, but please provide more info (power or drivers, which adapters needed if any, etc.)

Great sound does not have to be expensive. A pair of 5B/254M + a pair of 5A/152M + 5R4WGA Potato Masher and 2 pairs of adapters for less than $150.00 USD = Awesome sound, what a bargain.
5B254M arriving soon to compare :)
Agreed, I have just fitted my ITT 5B254A into the adaptors and wow incredibly smooth detailed sound.

I have ordered 2 other variants of 807 tube.

5B/254A (This has the same base as the classic 807, so you can use the same adapter as the 807 to 6L6 adapter - wire will be a bit long)
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/310087990405?

5B/254M (This is the loctal equivalent of the above tube - you need a different adapter)
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/310087990401
and the adapter required for it
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190839163749

5B/255M (This is the equivalent of the above 2 but without the top cap - you need a different adapter)
https://www.audiovalves.co.uk/#!/it...5m-halo-getter-valve-nos-boxed--0x28-w9-0x29-
and the adapter required for it
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/202978287646?

Refer to this post @Zachik

They are power tubes.

Refer to this post @Zachik
Are you sure? Yes Base is the same BUT the smaller tube 5B/254A has a smaller top hat and the standard 807 cap was loose and did not stay in place, the proper adapter is a really snug fit for the smaller cap.
