Thanks for the info, I'll look into both and decide!

One thing everyone (including me as an OCK-1 owner considering a possible upgrade) wishes we had with the OCK-2 - or for that matter any of LHY's other OCXO-containing products such as their SW-10 - is certainty as to their phase noise performance at a unit level. But that doesn't seem to be coming any time soon as it'd likely push up their prices significantly.

I'm not even sure there's a published sample phase noise plot yet for the OCK-2. What we do have is a number of very positive reviews along with some pretty nice and clean square and sine wave plots from the likes of @JaMo. To add to @Jake2 ’s post, a few of the members here also own the Mutec Ref10 120se and continue to speak very highly of the LHY clocks.

In my own personal experience, I was very happy with the Ock-1. I still consider it to be an amazing value. To my ears though, the Mutec Ref10 is in another league altogether and it isn’t close in any way.

I only fed my Etherregen whenI compared the two. Now with the Mutec I feed my CoreAudio P24 Ocxo card and the Etherregen and the results are very positive.

Who knows, I may have been just as happy with the Ock-2.

FWIW for those weighing the OCK-2 against the SW-10, another HF member had recent correspondence with Alvin from Beatechnik who stated that the OCXO used in the SW-10 is larger than that used in the OCK-2 and that the LHY engineers advised him it is higher quality than the one used in the OCK-2.

You can certainly see it is noticeably bigger by comparing the relative size of the SW-10’s OCXO to its much larger chassis.

Otherwise In the absence of any LHY phase noise specs please season this Inception-level hearsay with as much salt as you desire.

Size should not be taken for consideration when refering to quality. This is likely a different batch of recycling material one from cellphone towers other from a different communication equipment.

I would buy the OCK2 over a used Ref 10 (regular). Ref 10s are very nice but the OCK2 performs very well and 5x cheaper (over $3k R10 used price). Put my Ref 10 in a box since purchase of the OCK2. The Ref 10 is a well designed unit and hoping to buy a -120dB+ OCXO some day to mod the Ref 10. Saving my money.

If you can get a regular Ref 10 cheap enough or already have a Ref 10 then Mutec has an SE120 upgrade program.

I was reading through the REF10 thread and noticed that most users reported that the ref10 in connexion with the Mutec MC 3+USB has a nice but minor addition to SQ. The biggest change to SQ came from Mutec MC 3+USB

I think I will go the same route, used REF10 and then eventually upgrade to 120 (unless a good deal used Cybershaft/Afterdark pops up). Can anyone confirm the REF 10 can have its input voltage switched by the user?

I can confirm that the clock in the SW-10 is larger than that of the the OCK-2. You can tell from the proportions as Jake stated. You can also tell from the size of the clock label which is likely the same label used on the OCK-2 OCXO. It was shocking to see the size of that clock first hand. To @sajunky 's point though, I do not think size correlates to clock performance 100% of the time. I wonder what developments there will be around that OCXO.
