Thanks for the info, I'll look into both and decide!
Size should not be taken for consideration when refering to quality. This is likely a different batch of recycling material one from cellphone towers other from a different communication equipment.FWIW for those weighing the OCK-2 against the SW-10, another HF member had recent correspondence with Alvin from Beatechnik who stated that the OCXO used in the SW-10 is larger than that used in the OCK-2 and that the LHY engineers advised him it is higher quality than the one used in the OCK-2.
Yeah this is exactly what path I’ve taken. Super cheap used Ref10, planning to upgrade to 120se when funds allow. If you can get a regular Ref 10 cheap enough or already have a Ref 10 then Mutec has an SE120 upgrade program.
Used Ref10 + 2 000€ vs 5 000€Yeah this is exactly what path I’ve taken. Super cheap used Ref10, planning to upgrade to 120se when funds allow.
Correct . I live in the US so the retail price is closer to $7500usd for a brand new Ref10 120se. My total is A LOT less post 120se upgrade.
I think I will go the same route, used REF10 and then eventually upgrade to 120 (unless a good deal used Cybershaft/Afterdark pops up). Can anyone confirm the REF 10 can have its input voltage switched by the user?
Thank you for confirming. Also someone mentioned above adding the Mutec MC 3+USB to the chain. I havent really looked into this, is it just a DDC? Im planning to go ethernet only streaming to my DAC, would I benefit in any way from this?Easily done from the rear of the unit. See page 16 of the user manual.

I can confirm that the clock in the SW-10 is larger than that of the the OCK-2. You can tell from the proportions as Jake stated. You can also tell from the size of the clock label which is likely the same label used on the OCK-2 OCXO. It was shocking to see the size of that clock first hand. To @sajunky 's point though, I do not think size correlates to clock performance 100% of the time. I wonder what developments there will be around that OCXO.One thing everyone (including me as an OCK-1 owner considering a possible upgrade) wishes we had with the OCK-2 - or for that matter any of LHY's other OCXO-containing products such as their SW-10 - is certainty as to their phase noise performance at a unit level. But that doesn't seem to be coming any time soon as it'd likely push up their prices significantly.
I'm not even sure there's a published sample phase noise plot yet for the OCK-2. What we do have is a number of very positive reviews along with some pretty nice and clean square and sine wave plots from the likes of @JaMo.
