You have to excuse me but I don't understand what You are saying... at all ..really. Let me resume and You are more than welcome to correct me if I have a wrong understanding of any of these things said... You only have one Master clock output. Now connected to the U18. Then You connect the U18 with I2s (HDMI) to the X26 Pro. (The X26 Pro hasn't a 50 Ohm BNC from the same master clock connected.) So when You toggle between INT XO-EXT XO You don't get a different result. Pretty natural I think, because of the non-present master clock on the EXT XO input of the X26 Pro. As I see it, the only strange thing with this is the absence of the expected pulsing noise, we, the other users have when set to EXT XO on the X26 Pro (dac) and Ext 10MHz input unpopulated..... There is the strange behavior. I think You should borrow a very good master clock with at least two 50 Ohm outputs and really test out the potential performance. Here in my rig, it is a "night and day" difference. With only the U18 on master clock...it is ok but not "heaven" as when both devices are fed with a 50 Ohm clock pulse on each one.
Personally I think that the MLCK (+-) pulses from the DDC has limted impact, on the input and in some filterings but not to time the whole dac. That's why, I think I get the much better result when both U18 and the X26 Pro are fed by the Mutec REF10 SE120.
It should be very interesting to hear the truth. Anyway, I trust my ears and I will feed booth the U18 and the X26 Pro with a (quality) time pulse.

I'm sure its at the higher end of the spectrum.I am very eager for someone else to try diy Neotech Nevd-2001. I wonder where it ranks among well known good sounding options.
Is the pre made oyaide using the silver connectors. I've had a nice oyaide cable before but it's.....not that far from a blue jeans.I'm sure its at the higher end of the spectrum.
If I were to build it with the neotech wire, I'd want to use high quality connectors like the oyaide but since they're like $120, it makes it about the same price as the premade oyaide bnc cable. I'd rather just get the premade wire given those options.

If yours sounded like a Blue Jeans, it was probably a knock off. The OG real deal is silver, and there's no way it'd sound like a BJ.

Good for You.No, I've also had my AfterDark clock split through a T-piece and feeding both the DDC and DAC and toggled the DAC between INT and EXT with no difference in sound AT ALL. In fact, I could unplug the clock to the DAC completely. When I toggled between INT and EXT on the DDC, a huge difference was heard.
I'm not going to say any more on the subject as it seems clear to me that, for whatever reasons, my setup behaves differently from others'. I will cease recommending it and leave others to find their own solutions. Me? I'm in audio heaven.

The Gustard U18 DDC takes the master clock in and terminates it with 50 ohms.I didn't read the thread yet but when you have a master clock with one output, and run the slaves in cascade, then the intermediate devices (i.e. not the last in the clock chain) have to have terminating resistance turned off. On pro devices intended for clock slaving there is a switch for this.
The last device needs to present a 75 ohm terminating impedance, but the devices which are not last need to pass through, without the terminating impedance.

It then re-presents it to the I2S output (pins 10 & 12) which then feeds it to the X26 Pro DAC. One presumes that I2S is terminated in the proper manner, too.
