Master Clock Talk

Easy question to the group but complex for me. I have a clock on order to use with my HIFI Rose 130 and an external DAC. Both the 130 streamer and DAC accept 50ohms clock inputs. My question is related to the directional BNC cables, should the arrows be pointed outwards from the streamer and DAC and inward towards the two clock inputs on the master clock. My thoughts are the only clock I should be using is from the master external clock thus the signals should be going from the streamer and DAC to the clock.

Hi @duffer5 It’s the other way around, the external (AKA master) clock outputs (they typically only have outputs, no inputs) send a pulse down the cable to the 10mhz input on the recipient (AKA slave) device, so the arrow direction should be from ext clock output to streamer & DAC inputs i.e. clock >> streamer/DAC.

Super helpful @Jake2, much appreciated.

Hey Team "Master Clock," just as an FYI I have the "upgrade," kit coming for my LHY OCK-2 to essentially turn it into the OCK-2s. I will provide first impressions once it arrives and if it is "worth it," commentary. As an additional FYI the cost was $494 USD plus $60 for shipping and tariffs (USA bound).

If it works as promised, it should be worth ~15dBc reduction in phase noise at 10Hz. I'm curious as to what the kit contains. Keep us posted and take photos.

OK that is really interesting as fellow OG OCK-2 owner, many thanks for sharing.

No problem. Due to arrive in the next week+. I will update asap along with pictures including the phase noise graph.

I look forward to it. Do you mind sharing the item link?
Hello @Jake2. There is no posted link for the kit. I initially reached out to Alvin with Vinshine when the OCK-2s was introduced to ask if 'there was pathway forward to upgrade," to the 2s. He responded that he was working directly with LHY to create a "kit," to offer the upgrade. I once again reached out to Alvin to check the status (about 9 months later) and he responded with the option of the upgrade kit referenced. If you are interested I would contact Alvin directly at either Beatechnik or Vinshine.

Dear all,

Appreciate if you could help me on this.

I am planning a system, and was planning to get a streamer with a clock input, a network switch with a clock input, DI-25HE and a DAC with a clock input.

Now the OCK-2 has 2 50 ohm sine and 2 50 ohm square

How would you suggest I connect all 4?

Does mixing sound waves act counterproductively?

If using a single reference clock for multiple components you would do well to look very closely at the isolation and driver circuitry of your candidate multiple-out clock boxes. They are NOT created equal.

Many thanks for getting back to me.

As I'm still finding my feet with this topic, I wasn't quite sure if your reply answered my question.

Could you please clarify whether using different waves on different components in the chain, from the same clock, would be counter-productive, or if it would still be helpful for syncing the timings?
