I just received a pair of these today in trade. When I picked up the package in the post office I noticed a coffee shop across the street, as I couldn't wait to get home to try them out I went in had a Coffey and gave them a listen. I tried all the tips sent but I have to say I was very disappointed with the sound.

At home I found a few large bore tips from some audiofly 78s. I rolled a couple of tips and finally found a set of tips that really made these iems come alive. I just love the mids on these, really nice.

I have to say these really are tip dependant.

Seal is everything

Very much agree.

Regarding the fit, I’ve been going back and forth between Comply tips and the included large black olives, and the olives seem to be the best fit for my ear. The issue with the shell design is that it’s bulbous, and the auricle of my ear gets in the way of getting a good seal. Surely, this is not a common problem, but it is with my anatomy.

Anyway, with the olives, I get a good enough seal where I’m really enjoying the sound of the X. I decided to check with Noble to see if they sell the olive tips, but on its site, they only show an assortment pack of all the tips for $30, which I don’t need. I emailed Noble about buying the large olives only, and I received a prompt reply and a yes to my inquiry. Just thought other owners might like to know of this availability.

While quantities allow for such activities.

But it certainly isn't the norm. It is much like asking to buy a left shoe, leaving the store with one right shoe....

The tips I’m referring to are the black foam tips. They taper towards the front a bit. If you received the stock tips with your X, all the others are silicone. These are some Shure versions of the same thing:

Just picked up used pair for cheap with a westone cable. Using jvc spiral dots - after listening to meelec m duos (and suffering with them for so long) and er4xrs - these are way more my speed - the top end isn't er4 series clean and takes a back seat, but the mods have great staging. What others should I try next with similar sound signature? (Maybe with better extension?)
