Hi does anyone know the difference sound wise and if the mark3 needs amplification? Is the mad dogs also rolled of on both ends?

The T50RP is an open headphone, but not that open and I think some of the mods, modify those opens, just can't say what.

Yes they are. I haven't heard an unmodded T50RP or the other variants (Dekoni, etc), but if you need isolation it's a good pair.

thanks what about the alpha dogs? I may have an opportunity to get used ones for 400 instead (or just add another fifty and buy the koss electrostatic from drop?)

From what I've been hearing, the Alpha Dogs are supposed to be "technically" better but others have complained that they sound too "sterile" compared to the Mad Dogs. I would definitely give them a listen before deciding.
