Thanks everyone. I took it to a repair shop. I thought better not play Russian Roulette with the switch as it was feeling quite rough switching it.
I’d think about having the other switches of the same type replaced now too. They’d be from the same batch. When my Asgard 3 had the frozen switch issue, Schiit replaced both gain and power for that reason.

So the repair shop said the switch and a capacitor as well as something else need replacing. I'll report back once it's all repaired and I know all the details. I do wonder what caused it all. I have a feeling it was something at the switch that caused a chain reaction.

I just acquired a "pre-owned" Lyr 3 and so far, I am very impressed even with the stock JJ tube.

It is equipped with the multibit card so it is not really an even comparison, but am somewhat in awe of how well it holds its own against the DNA Starlett + Modius. It doesn't have that last ounce of spaciousness and presence, but for sheer musicality and dynamism, it is not at all far behind. Considering the relative price points, that is quite an accomplishment.

I'm listening through the Bokeh closed, so perhaps these are too warm to really appreciate more subtle differences, but as of right now it's quite a revelation. Much like the Pietus Maximus with the right headphone pairing (in my case, the Diana V2), it's the kind of amp that just gets out of the way and let's you enjoy the music.

And of course, the silver sounds amazing...

Lyr is the most underrated amp around IMO. Its value proposition is off the charts. :raised_hands: I sold mine a couple of years ago but I've toyed with buying a new one out of curiosity for how it would work with Susvara.

Just wait until you hear it with a higher-end R2R DAC, like the Bifrost 2/64 or the just-released Gungnir 2.

It scales like a champ! :L3000:

Lyr sounds best with (opinion only here) anything other than a JJ. I have two of those, and I don’t like either. But the amp is a monster. Nothing it won’t drive beautifully!

A suggestion that won’t break the bank: If you can get a 7N7 adapter to 6SN7, I’ve yet to hear a bad 7N7. And no, I have no idea why…

Glad you’re enjoying, and do let us know how it goes!

Agreed.

I only use some pretty common NOS Sylvania 6NS7 tubes and they give a noticeable improvement in the mids and highs when compared to the JJ tubes.

So there’s no need to break the bank when you’re just starting to tube roll.

The only potential downside with NOS tubes (and this is true about all vintage NOS tubes, regardless of price) is that some will have a higher noisefloor than others of the same exact tube, which may become audible, especially if you are using the amp in its high gain setting. So it’s always a bit of a crapshoot when playing with NOS tubes.

Does anyone happen to know how the feet on the Lyr 3 are attached? Are they just adhesive, or is there some sort of retention clip that inserts into the chassis?

I can't for the life of me pry them off (trying to replace them with something that has a little more grip)!

Edit: Sorry disregard, I answered my own question! For those curious, they do slot in through the bottom of the case, not just adhesive.
