I love the clean, accurate sound of my AKG K240 Studio headphones (unmodified) when combined with an Aune T1 DAC/Amp. Is the K702 similar but more accurate? Is the K702 Anni worth the extra $ ? Thanks for the help.

Not fully understanding your tastes I am going to supply you with some charts to help shed some sound on the subject.

First is the frequency response of the two pairs of headphones:

See how the AKG K702's curve is almost entirely under the K240?  This indicates that the K702 will would thinner in the bass and more even in the midrange.

The harmonic distortion charts:

These graphs indicate that the K702 can most likely be turned up a bit louder prior to distorting and give slightly better instrument separation ( less blur ).

The 50Hz square wave response:

These charts show that the drivers are most likely identical and both headphones are equally quick.

To me the change from the K 240 to the K702 is not worth the cost.

If you want something accurate the HE-500 would be a great place to start.

yea in my opinion, i have tried the k702 and the q701, and i would just get the q701. the only problem with mine are the ridges that are on the headband. if your not used to them, they create little hills (bumps) on the top of your head. you can always do a mod. XD
