Wow...nice!
What type of music do you listen to? When you say 'alive' and 'fun' sound what does that mean? U shaped, basshead, treblehead, neutral/accurate, etc? Out of the dozens of headphones you've owned, which ones did you really like?

I went ahead and got the Stax SRS-3100 with a Chord Mojo. I got to stay $700 under by budget while also getting some good quality! Im huge on speed, detail, and imaging. Those are the most important to me. I guess I also like my bass to be full and not roll muddy into the mids. I listen to all music. Specifically RnB and Country.

Congrats on your new system! Been a long while since I've owned Stax but I recall liking them a lot.

Electrostatic cans are definitely nice for acoustic/vocal/etc. music...I use my ESP-950s for this type of music and they sound great.

Ya know, you could take that $700 and get a nice set of dynamic or planar cans to compliment the Stax! :L3000:
