The beyerdynamics are renowned for being quite bass-driven and in-your-face cans, but a companion can like the hd595, or hd580 (my current cans, and my reccomendation) is more likely to give a laid-back and "neutral" sound.

The a900 is a nice can, from what I remember. Maybe you should be looking at a bigger new purchase, more of an upgrade, something like the hd600 or hd650?

Grados are addictive to listen to, if they are right for your tastes. I would start low, and maybe get a pair of MS-1s or Sr225s. seems like an ideal starting point, considering that RS-1s are almost top of line. Grados sound great out of a PA2V2, BTW.

Buy the SR225s and BE SO HAPPY! I owned a pair - only returned because

1) I wanted more soundstage
2) At night when relaxing the forward presentation made some vocals sound like shouting
3) I am just a little dumb and more inpatient - the drums and attack on Grados are so cool!

Take no care,
Spraggih
