Bumping this old thread to comment on the A-S2000's suspected inability to drive the AKG k701's:
Certainly by the specs it seems the headphone section is "severly underpowered" for demanding phones like the k701's but to my surprise I didn't find it to be struggling at all. In fact, I ended up liking the A-S2000's headphone amp so much I couldn't justify keeping my Graham Slee Novo anymore. The Novo has more extended treble (helping with texture detail) and a bit more focused (and restrained) bass but the soundstage, dynamics, overall musicality and "slam" were nowhere near the A-S2000's level. (Mind you, I was using the standard switching power supply with the Novo.)
