I'm considering getting my first tube amp and I'm curious about the new, upgraded Darkvoice 336SE, now named LA Figaro 336. I haven't really seen any thread about the new 336, anyone bought it? Impressions please.

I listen to mostly metal/rock and jpop/jrock. It's going to be for my Grado 325is, at least for now. I'm hoping it keep the cost of the amp under 300 and I'm kind of just focusing on the ones below unless there's a better recommendation.

Little dot I+? since it's made for low impedance headphones.
Little dot MK 3?
Darkvoice/LA Figaro 336?

Thanks in advance!

Upon reading the Le Figaro impressions thread...

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/dar...thread-463488/

...you will find that the new La Figaro 332c has better capacitors and thus can handle low impedance headphones a little better than their Darkvoice predecessor the 332. I'm not sure about the La Figaro 336, but I would assume that it's the same. I don't know how the older 336 handled low impedance HPs, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that it's the same as with the DV 332 -- low impedance phones don't work that great with the amp.

However, I have the newer La Figaro 332c and I've used it with low impedance IEMs such as the Shure SE530s and the Triple.Fis. The amp does pretty well with these cans but not as good as my mini3. Thus, I'd say they don't do their best. This *might* change based on rolling tubes. FWIW, I still have the stock tubes in because I'm waiting til 100 hours of burn in on the amp. I'm at 50 or so.

Finally, I've used this amp with my Alessandro MS2s and I thought the highs were rather harsh or perhaps the highs weren't as controlled as they could be. Something sounded off at times. At other times they sounded pretty good. Depends on the song.

All in all, I've heard other people recommend hybrid tube / solid state amps for Grados like a Millet. You need more uF pumped out of the amp to get a decent synergy with the phones. The DV/La Figaro amps do their best with high impedance phones like the Senn HD650s or AKG701s.

That's what I was afraid to hear. :[

I'll have to look more into hybrid tube amps then. Though I would prefer it to be entirely tube rather than a hybrid.

Thanks Mullet for your input.

Anyone else have other thoughts/suggestions that can help me out?

Darkvoice /洛杉矶费加罗报336?

在此先感谢![/报价]

For low-impedance headphones,336C 332C 332S is not suitable.Tube Amplifier is not as good as Transistor Machine. They just push a low-impedance headphones and made some improvements. More suitable low-impedance headphones is lafigaro339.Maybe 339 would be better.

Not looking to derail the OP, but that 339 looks quite familiar. Is that slated to be the La Figaro equivalent for the Darkvoice 337?

Is this it? (it's mentioned in yuking09's user details - home page).
