So I am now looking into DACs....well I have been wanting to get a DAC with optical so I can set it up with my Asus Xonar DG, along with the Massdrop O2 amp that I will be getting later this month.
 
Though Schiit's Modi is a good candidate, I was wondering if there are any good deals on other DACs I can take a look at in which, I could probably notice a difference between a Modi and a more higher price DAC. Im willing to drop around $150 bucks or so.....maybe a bit more. But with different DACs and me still learning more about them, Im kind of lost here.
 
I do notice that the Modi optical is still priced the same but the USB version is cheaper....why is that?

So I am assuming you need the Dolby Headphone feature of the Xonar DG?

The Modi 2 is a great choice, the Uber version is probably a bit better and still within your budget.  I assume the same thing as cel4145.  Which headphones are you using?
