Hello,
As a late christmas gift I can get anything within the 100-250 dollar price range. Since I don't really have a source right now ( I use my Zen and PC) I was looking into a home CD player. I have read and I understand that used cd players are much beter value for the $, but being a gift something new would be preferrable.
So, what new cd players in that price range would be worth considering?
BTW, if there's really nothing that great, I can wait and get something better. That's sort of a last resort type of thing though...

Thanks

Tivoli CD, they list at $200 but they can be had for a lot less, just cruise the net.

Does the Oppo have a headphone socket ?

I agree that the Oppo is a good choice but without a headphone out jack, you'll need something else to go with it. Maybe the Tivoli, but I haven't read too much about this. The Marantz is a good choice if you can find one in your budget.

I just bought a Marantz CD5001 and am very satisfied with it, but I haven't listened to enough CD sources that I could make a good comparison. Recently hifitrader.com was selling the Marantz for $220, but they may not be in stock anymore.
