Logitech UE6000

Thanks, It's already gone back though, good value HP, but not the right sound or fit for me.
Am now looking at the AKG range:
£120 AKG Q 701
£105 AKG Pro 612
£70   AKG 551
Having been recommended the Brainwavz HM-5, i am thinking maybe spend that bit more for better quality. The big stores i've tried don't stock the AKG range very well unfortunately.
With the 701/612 i have no headphone amp /DAC, just my AVR and basic flac/mp3 player.

Since you have no dedicated amplifiers yet, the AKG headphones mentioned above may not be the best fit IMO. I would rather go for the B&O H2 if you are willing to go for on-ear or the UE6000

Thanks Dubstep, why the 612's over the Q701?

The 701's/Beyer 880/Senn 600's seem to be best in class, depending upon your taste in sound. The 701's are the most affordable, but still very expensive for me.
Any idea of the minimun amp pricing i can get away with these? It'll be going through my Yamaha/Laptop.
Too bass light for your dubstep i take it!

Hi subguy, the AKG have been recommended several times due to their clarity/precision, 551's are in there as  a cheaper, closed alternative.
I am on a budget but ideally would have a couple of HP's, one for home and for now i'm looking at the cheap Koss KSC75's for out
The UE6000 was good value, i agree there, mine were £50 and I would recommend them.
ohh sorry. The k612 is a bit less analytical than the Q701, and less fatiguing. I guess if you like a bright sound signature, go for Q701... Oh and your AVR should work just fine.

he has a receiver, which I assume is powerful enough to drive the Q701 or K612.

Can someone please let me know the length/width of the inside of the cups?

I'm trying to determine if they will fit my ears OK. No one is selling them in store here so I can't try any on...

I remember seeing the measurements somewhere but I can't find them again.

Thanks so much everyone, if this is anoying the UE 6000 thread, there is a link in my sig.

I have just found a £179 B & O H6 to throw in the mix with the AKG's.
Again at the uper end but it could be a bargain, i'll go in and test it this week, any idea how it will compare?
Entering NAD HP50 range too.

Just picked up a new pair of these for $65 (US$53). Pretty happy with the price. Will try them out later.
Yes, thats what I paid. For that price they are one of my favorite hp's. Actually I had 30.00 Amazon credit so they were a steal at 35.00 cash from my pocket.

Has anyone removed the foam covering the driver? I'm unsure if I should try it because it is glued on the baffle so it is not a reversable mod. Highs are too recessed for my taste so I was thinking removing the foam might help.

highs too recessed in active mode?  i think the highs are ok.  for me it's the mids that get sucked out.

How are the ue6000 compared to the Fidelio x2?

They are not really in the same league...X1 is significantly better than UE6000 (including soundstage), and from what I've read, X2 is significantly improved on the X1 (except perhaps in bass quantity - it's more neutral than X1).

Having said that, X1/X2 are many multiples of the price you can buy the UE6000 for.
