Little Dot MK 9 - Has anyone tried it?

Ouy! It's too bad that don't have them built, and ready to ship. I did see they raised the price since we ordered, by $40 USD :)
The retail was $529.00, I think, when I ordered mine. I got them to match the littledotus for $489.00. Maybe they told him to knock it off.

When I ordered mine from littledotus...was $489 but that day, over at ShenzhenAudio it was $476! But somehow I thought I had to order it via the us distributor so went via littledotus...

I definitely missed that!

Got my Mark 9 today and am really enjoying it. Went through my test list and was very impressed. Just finishing up Freddie Hubbard (Red Clay).

Right out of the box everything sounds good, with stock tubes.

Much bigger than the Mark III but still not a desktop hog. 20220411_111737~2.jpg20220411_121004~2.jpg20220411_122218_HDR.jpg

Wow, it looks even more impressive in your pics! IMO, although being a Chinese company, Little Dot is able to distinguish themselves from generic designs and develop their own aesthetic. Among their small amps, the MK9 is the most handsome one.

It does have a nice look. Beefier than the more common Mark III/Mark IV'S.

Also the tubes are MUCH easier to insert.

But Man does it put off heat! I am debating getting an external fan for cooling. The whole machine gets very hot, including the volume pot.

Is it larger than Mk3/4? I always reckoned they are the same size.
I'll take the heat into consideration. The balanced Mk6/8 do have fans installed in them, and MK9 is essentially half of the Mk6.

It is noticeably bigger, but looks more impressive, IMO.
I found a little clip on fan at Amazon with a plug. It would clip on to the table and the plug would drop down 12 to 14 inches for the power bar.

Congratulations on the Little Dot Mk 9! 6080 and 6SL7 tubes will not be too difficult to come across should tube rollosis strike you. Maybe later even fuse upgrade…🤔. Anyway, a thought, besides a fan, to address the heat from LDIX…

(I have used these with Schiit Valhalla II.)

The first thought that popped into my head was socket savers, but I don't know how much difference that would make.

This amp could NEVER be stacked on anything.

I am going to try some 6SL7's.

Oh well, with the feet. I agree about the socket savers: not much of the tubes are ‘submerged’.

Here are some 6SL7's to try, Shane:

EM120612-W.JPG

L to R:
GE Silver Plates 6SL7 (1960's ?)
Tung Sol 6SL7 (this is the modern Russian repro, probably no where near as good as a 1950-ish NOS usa made TS)
Arcturus 6SL7 (a rebrand as Arcturus had quit tube making by 1950's probably a Sylvania or an RCA rebrand)
Sovtek 6SL7 (Russian, modern, not heard it, so dunno...)

:)
