Re the MuMetal, when I get around to it I'll see if I can internally sheath the toroidal transformer with one or more layers around the outside and on top. From photos it looks like there should be enough space for a single layer with a bit of judicious cutting and taping razor sharp edges(!) to fit around wires coming out of the base of the transformer. I did this with the R26's two toroidals and it was a little fiddly to do but very effective, thoroughly worth the effort. I may even try this with another DAC.

I found adum 3166 /4166 finished and ready to put to usb
works just as well as lhy
with good clock
The disadvantage is the very clean power supply of 9 volts

Nice find, thanks for sharing, looks well made and another good option, have you listened to it? Hopefully more reliable than that 4166 based AliX unit with which some people had problems.I found adum 3166 /4166 finished and ready to put to usb
FYI Adum 3165/66 is a more compact design but with a lower kilovolt galvanic isolation rating than 4165/66. This may not matter for audio but IIRC there was some correlation with the Intonas with higher isolation rating units sounding better.
I would also say take unsupported/unverified phase noise claims on AliX or anywhere else (e.g. LHY in the past) with a pinch of salt, unless accompanied by a datasheet or better yet a certified phase noise plot. Not realistic to expect this for a USD100-150 device of course.
ISOUSB211DPEVM I will try first
then adum 6165 with lhy uip
maybe be surprised ISOUSB211DPEVM board maybe not
The ISOUSB211 has a built-in clock in the chip
there so many similarities ISOUSB211 and adum 4165
eye diagram is the same
as well as jitter in ps
wins adum 4165 by 30ps but not by much
ISOUSB211DPEVM board is ready out of box on usb
for 65 dollars

Funny you say that, I just got one of these to try in a portable setup, or maybe even in series with and upstream of the LHY.found adum 3165 a good insulator

OMG thankyou, I have a Phoenix USB reclocker decrapifier...anyways been reading this UIP thread...getting back to that solid hunk of silver to replace a fuse, who the f would replace a fuse with that??? Kind of like playing Russian fuse roulette with whatever component you put that in. It reminds me of when were teenagers and you blew a fuse in your car and you wrapped the blown fuse with tinfoil from a cigarette pack...about the stupidist thing you could do lolI can’t recommend any yet, but I thought I’d try solid silver, Xangsane have a good reputation for using high quality silver in their cables.
Note it is not a fuse, so I can’t recommend replacing a fuse with this and leaving it, would be a potential fire and electrical shock hazard in the event of an internal short or component failure. In practice of course this is very low likelihood (I’ve never had a fuse blow in any component in decades of use) but super high consequence if it does. Do so at your own risk/ caveat emptor!

Honestly I think you are good and I wouldnt swet it. They always say these streamers are waaaay better than our chains...but are they really any better. Alot of the streamers are just use NUC based or Intel based boards running a slimmed down operating system. For years I was using a NUC7i5 in a fanless case with linear PS>>>into various decrapifiers>>>into my Musical Paradise MPD2 DAC. Upgraded the MPD2 to the MKIII deluxe over the years and used a Phoenix with it for years also. I ended up building myself a NUC12i7 in fanless Akasa Turing case with a Keces P8 PS>>>into my Phoenix>>>into an Gustard A26, heck it sounds great. I would maybe like to try a Gustard X30 now, but for the most part I am pretty dam happy, my spaghetti chain isnt to crazy, fairly simple. I dont have a desire for a budget or expensive streamer.A question for the more experienced and technical minded:
Even with the LHY UIP USB and the DI-24HE, does transform make a PC full of noise and jitter into a high-end "streamer level".
I just contacted a well known retailer- Audiophonics. The are audio-gd distributors and highly recommend their products, and yet they told me that a Eversolo DMP A8 streamer (under $2,000) using HDMI out direct to the DAC will noticeable beat the same streamer connected by usb to the DI-24HE and then HDMI out from the DI to the DAC.
They seem to have tested hundreds of pieces of equipment in almost unlimited combinations and they seem confident in what they are saying. I see no reason for them to be biased against audio-gd as they are distributors for them- so lacking motivation to lie, I am assuming they really believe this to be true.
If so- why did I spend $1500 on a LHY UIP USB and DI-24HE when for a little more Ican trash my fanless linear power supplied PC and get this Eversolo streamer- beat it all, and cut the spaghetti chain of equipment?
Getting back to your gear and chain. Again I say to you I wouldnt swet it. I bet your gear sounds good, dont worry be happy and enjoy the music.

The Lhy Uip is still one of my favorite devices I have added to my chain. It made my system that much more enjoyable to lsiten to. When I added the Lhy Ock-2, that up it another level. I can't ever see myself going back, and listening without this device.
Highly Recommend it.

I keep telling folk on the LAiV Harmony thread how well it works with my DAC but folk take a bit of convincing that USB can compete with - or better - I2S.
@MilitaryHifi I see you have a fine collection of DACs, have you tried the UIP directly feeding your Holos with their much touted Titanis 2 isolation and if so how did you find it?
Ok I just saw in your sig you have three UIPs! Cool

Say if I was just starting out now. I would probably look at the Phoenix price and go yikes. Id most likely buy the UIP and the Ock2. I think originally I was looking at SOTM USB Ultra, but I figured by the time I bought a PS and clock why not forget the spaghetti and just get a Phoenix. My MPD2 DAC then didnt have I²S so thats why I thought splurge on the Phoenix and keep USB. I really like the A26, but wonder what would I²S sound like. Now I want to try the X30 and Phoenix or UIP...maybe the Phoenix or UIP wouldnt make that much of a difference???Awesome!

I think you’re right, and to ease the pain I’ll gladly take the Phoenix off your hands for a reasonable sum.

I jest, hard to know till you try. My i2S experience only goes so far, but so far it hasn’t beaten USB or very good AES/EBU in my system. It’s theoretically better sure with all its dedicated conductors for data and clock etc, but then the proof is in the pudding. Supposedly the X30 has a better internal streamer than the very good one in the R26 (at least with HQP NAA, especially when externally clocked which improves both the streamer and DAC sections), bested only by the Phoenix, LHY and Audio-Gd DI20HE, so the X20 if fed nice clean ethernet via the likes of @MilitaryHifi ’s LHY SW-6 stack (or something more modest) could be killer. I have the equivalent with Afterdark switches.
