I just bought V60 as replacement for my V30. I expected a little bit better sound, but improvement over V30 is big to me. New level. I am listening mostly through Tidal/UAPP/my own balanced amp/Xelento. I am happy.

I agree with you that the newer phone sounds good. I read that the V30 & G7 have similar sound quality. In my experience the G8x & V60 are a step up in sound quality when compared to the G7 mostly because of their tuning. The LG phones share a mostly similar level of DAC chip between them so the amount of detail, soundstage... That they portray are on a similar level.

With the newer version of the phones they tuned the sound signature to be less analytical (V30, G7...) and more neutral with a bit more body (G8x, V60) without sacrificing the details and so the end result is a bit more refined and pleasant sound.

Used my V60 for about a month, tbh I'm disappointed by the SQ. V50 indeed sounded better. The resolution seems affected uh. Not as clear and dynamic sounding compared to the predecessor

If I remember correctly, the V50 was tuned by meridian and V60 by LG. I personally like the G8x (meridian) a bit more than V60 but it's not a huge difference in sound, atleast to my ears.

To me, difference between V60 and V30 or G7 is huge in favor of V60. Even in car(analog connectio), drums and basses are more powerfull and more defined, singer voices are a lot better portrayed, placement of instruments is more defined. A winner. I did not hear V40/50 and G8.

You guys use LG phone direct to iem? No USB dongle/ other dac-amp in between? Just curious about the SQ.

I am using xiaomi phone (offline files 16/44 and above) --> UAPP (bitperfect) -->dongle Shanling UA5--> iem Softears RSV

Has anyone been able to get the v60 to play audio via the USB cable to an external DAC and UAPP? I've never had an issue with my Pro-ject pre box s2 and uapp playing mqa till the v60. My v40 and v50 work fine on the same set up. Now I can't even get my uapp or tidal app to recognize my USB external dac so it may be a phone issue. And the sound plays out of the phone speakers. I've also noticed that the hardware volume option does not on the v60. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
May I know what other USB dongle you've tried before?

I am using it direct to Beyerdynamic Xelento, which are very efficent phones. Sounds very good. But for best sound to me, I connect my own custom balanced amplifier in between. I have difficulty concentrating and working with this setup.

I don't see an option to choose it here so my guess is that there is no Aptx Adaptive support on this phone.

In the photo, what you want to compare in terms of sound quality with a more or less full-fledged player:
