Can anyone who just bought a new LG V60, say over the past month, do a test via the Device Info HW app if its still showing as ESS 9218-codec? Or any other way to verify the DAC is indeed the ESS 9219, which is what ESS is claiming?

Am wondering if the newer production units are using the ESS 9219, whereas the earlier production ones are using the older ESS 9218?

Thanks in advance

Where do you go to check that?

Are you referring to the "Device Info HW" app? Just download and install it, you should see ESS 9218-codec under the "Audio" section, which is what I'm seeing for my V60 when it was first released.

Mine says es9218-codec also. I think all V60s are suppose to be es9219 chip. Does ESS 9219 has to use 9219 codec?

Noted with thanks. Not sure though, if there is such "9219-codec" . Am wondering if there's any other method to verify the hardware is indeed the ESS 9219 SoC, rather than seeing "codec" which is misleading.

My G8 says "es9218-codec, tfa98xx", but the V60 says "es9218-codec, tfa98xx, tfa98xx". The V60 has an extra "tfa98xx". So they are different?

I have my new V60 incoming (on T-Mobile). Last LG device I've had was the G7, and I remember it sounding stellar for what it was. Excited to see what the V60 brings, and excited to get the headphone jack back. I'm currently on the Oneplus 7T Pro and have really missed the jack. But upset to be going back to a notched display, though, it is smaller than on the G7.

I'll report back on how it sounds. I'm used to Chord's sounds, having a Mojo and Hugo 2. But I am very familiar with the ESS sound.

Is the Bluetooth audio powerful? Because on my LG v50 is really low with every headphones I tried.

I have no issues with volume on any of my phones (LG V60, Samsung Galaxy S9, and even the low end LG Aristo 2) I don't use full size cans but don't think that should matter since the DAC and amp being used for bluetooth are built into the headphones and not the one in the phone. I curfently use the MW07 Go, Sennheiser MTW, ES100 and Qudelix 5K with my V60 and the only real difference I noticed (besides codecs) compared to my aging Galaxy S9 was that the V60 had a stronger and more stable connection. I generally use aptX, aptX-HD or LDAC (SBC for the Aristo) depending on the device. Some bluetooth devices like the ES100 and 5K require you to maximize volume on the phone and control volume on the headphones or bluetooth receiver itself. When I used my MW07 Go with my LG Aristo 2, I also had to maximize volume on the phone and control volume on the actual earbuds since they were controlled independently for some reason but it worked fine once I figured that out.

I think it depends on both the phone and device but I have not had any issues so far with the V60. I am actually streaming Amazon music to my NAD D 3045 on my V60 as I type this on the V60 and it works great using aptX HD. In this case, volume on my phone is maxed (so full signal is going to my amp) and I control volume separately on my amp.

Got the V60 finally 256 GB European model but came without the FM radio application. I managed to install it along with the Next Radio application and the good news is the FM radio is on board, but I need to get it working.
Any clues?

Did you plug a headphone in? You need a wired headphone to act as antenna.
