Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe LG V30 was considered as a good sounding smartphone?
LG V series start with good sound from V20 I believe, I had the V20 & V35 never the V30 and the only one that I have at the moment is the V40, all with decent sound imo.

It is. Thought its a bit more on a warm side rather than neutral.

Really??

My experience has shown that it's on the brighter side, slightly.

But that was my ear.

Well, if I compare it to my G7. V30 is a bit warmer. Planning to buy V50 too
Sure.
It depends from what you're coming or compare with. :)

Against Xperia 1 iii, Mojo and R28, the V30 is brighter, obviously.

It shares the same sound like BTR5, imo.
Like most Ess based Dacs I've heard.

The ESS 9218P is most common on the V-series.

Yes, I imagined it was one of those made by ESS. It's quite cool that smartphones can accommodate a separate DAC. Many motherboards for stationary PCs feature quite elaborate audio cards too.

Please help me on V40 on LDAC issues on Android 10. I'm using a pair of Technics AZ60, regularly connected in LDAC mode under app settings and bluetooth settings. The LDAC spot appears on connceting the iem and in Technics app.
I may use the telephone part but the music is completely mute on native app, tidal and uapp
I've tested a Qudelix 5k in LDAC mode too and it worked but with some random playback freeze on high bitrate.

LG's entire V range features dedicated DAC chips, doesn't it?
Yeah. V, G, Q and some X series. I have some compilation on LG phones DAC. We have a group in FB, a dedicated group page for LG users using it as DAP.

Group page: LG Quad DAC Audiophiles International Communuty (LG4DAIC)

This sounds like a proper LG movement/cult :D

Thanks for that group's name btw. :)

@iFi audio what about the dac difference between v40 and your gryphon in terms of aound quality and power?

I have no idea honestly, but xDSD Gryphon is a very different device that's focused on music playback alone and beefier as far as output power goes. Still, a comparison of xDSD Gryphon to that LG smartphone would be interesting :)

I tried iFi nano before. It is bit warm in my hearing perception.
