I subscribed to this thread for useful conversation about the V20, all any of you do is bicker about useless stuff.

Sorry about the swearing, but I mean if someone is doing something incorrectly to get what ever they are wanting it to output or sample at, just tell them, don't start saying it's pointless and not worth it and if you don't actually know what to do, don't say anything.

IEMatch from Ifi works great to take away all hiss from ES60, but the way the connector is too big for both of my cases for the V20. Anyone using the IEMatch with a case that has large cutout for the headphone jack?

BTW, I don't sense any degradation of SQ.

interesting, ES60 has much lower sensitivity than SE530, and i haven't noticed any perceptible noise on SE530....

does V20 detect ES60 as a high impedance load?

From reading the thread, I gathered that even in lineout mode (external device), volume is adjustable from the V20. This seems to me that it's still going through the amp section and not a true lineout. I'm picking up my v20 today and want to know if I need to set the volume to max to simulate lineout (like the ak100ii). I might be using the v20 with my Oppo HA-2 if the phone can't drive my Pandora VI well.

Normal impedance. I listen at volume 15 at most. ES60 is super sensitive.

my mistake, i recalled wrong numbers. ES60 has almost the same sensitivity as SE530.
tested again with SE530 + classical piece and...yes there is a hiss when noise gate is lift off, at very low volumes.

a stunt resistor in the range of 25~50 ohms would help taming the hiss, and maybe even improves sound quality a little.
do you know what circuit does IEMatch use?

yes, it seems lineout is using the same amp mode (if there are multiple amp modes) as high gain. but this is normal, and V20's lineout performance is spectacular.

this leads to another intesting question: does the mighty AVC feature in ES9218 being used by V20 software? how? for gain mode? for volume control?
sadly, AVC seems not being used for volume control by subjective test

i'll try to measure this but the noise floor is well below the capability of my recording soundcard. let's see if i can find a good preamp...
