Maybe it's because my K10 is very sensitive to that.
What I found these days is in external mode, that treble problem become very apparent.
But if I connect the K10 directly, that reduced alot.
What are you using? Neutron or poweramp ?
LG Stock Music Player exclusively - tried the others, this sounds best imo, especially with 16 bit 44.1kHz FLAC files. Don't miss the EQ etc - don't need 'em.
Just a quick bit of information, I've just received a set of Sony MDR-V55 DJ headphones today, which are supposed to be only 40 Ohms, but they trigger the high impedance mode amplifier on the LG V20, which should activate from 50 Ohms upwards!
Nice to have the extra volume and not need the other tricks available.
I realise these are only £45 headphones (on Amazon UK, RRP £69.99) but they sound excellent and I enjoy the sound very much, just thought it might help someone else out on here?
I can hear hiss from my iem (5 oms) from stock player if it does not have an icon: dsd/hifi.
However, if there is an icon dsd/hifi, I can not hear the hiss at all, and all streaming service I can hear the hiss.
One more thing, only dsd/hifi, we can not eq it on stock player.
According to this finding, does it mean only dsd/hifi, it uses the 9218 while others use the internal dac.
@harpo1,
To my knowledge, No, there is no specific indicator on the v20 for the BT transmission type or codec.
But the v20 actually is one of only a few devices (so far) that not only has apt-x, but apt-x HD. Unfortunately, there are very few items available now to pair with apt-x HD transmission. Ive backed the Bluwave Get and hope to receive it soon. It should be a great companion for the v20 at least for BT quality of transmission with the higher apt-x hd codec. I'll have to wait and see if the amp inside the GET's pcb is nearly as good as a wired legacy headphone into the v20 however (they claim its way better than all smartphones, but not sure about v20). But i'm hoping it'll be a great alternative for good BT portable sound, at least with my lower-impedance IEMs.
I just visited their Indiegogo page. Looks like they've had several delays. Is September delivery concrete or do you expect more delays? Hopefully they start delivering soon so we get more reviews.
I think we should only try dsd or music >= 24 bits but not 16 bits, with only stock music player.
I found v20 is using different ways to processing music if it is dsd/24 bits music.
When using 16 bits music, even if it is flac format, the sound is downgraded.
In short, any song that the stock music player doesn't allow you to apply EQ setting will sound at its best.
I have limited experience with V20, I demo-ed V10 and V20 before buying and ended up with V10 because of the more impactful bass.
Not really enough time to compare with Pro 5.

I have been using Meizu Pro 5 for more than a year, extremely satisfied with the sound quality from the ESS Dac. But the camera was damaged, and looking for an upgrade. Just ordered a H990DS (dual SIM, with B&O Play audio tuning), keep my fingers crossed. Will report back Meizu Pro5 vs. LG V20.
A little bit worried about the 'B&O audio tuning', because from my experience with Meizu Pro 5, any tuning to the stock simple DSP settings actually worsen the sound quality.
E.g. Meizu Pro 5's stock firmware (OS version 4.x.x) delivers the purest, best sound quality. Later Meizu released OS version 5.x.x, with 'audio expert' tuning to the DAC settings, this makes Pro 5 basically listenable (totally junk). Later, multiple OS releases, 6.x.x, still bad sound quality compared to the very simple original firmware version.
Any how, keep my fingers crossed. Waiting for the LG V20 to arrive.
Is there an option to disable 'B&O tuning'? Or using special audio player software can by-pass it?

To make it precise, what you mention is not called DAP, it should be called DAC.
I recommend ifi micro idsd DAC though. It is purely huge and clear upgrade. If not enough budget, ifi nano might be fine though.
