LG V20 Sound Quality

How high does the impedance need to be? So you connect headphones, impedance adaptor, and extension together first, then plug into the phone, play music, then take out the impedance adaptor and plug the headphones straight into the extender?

I believe some people are using a 75 ohm adapter with success to get into high impedance mode.

And yes the method you mentioned for connecting is correct. Once the phone sees the full load you can disconnect the headphones and impedance adapter as long as you leave the extender plugged in the phone.

So here it goes.
After lots of confusions and doubts i finally bought LG G6 with quad dac version and bought SOUNDMAGIC E80C earphones with it.
There is that change when using the high impedance earphone.
All instruments can be heard distinctly.
All guitar strings can be heard well especially when guitarist plucking the strings of acoustic guitar.

Its like i have entered a new phase of music.
Thanks to everyone here for helping me out and bearing my question and Special thanks to Juan Carlos Bagell of Pocketnow to change me into new direction of music listening by picking up the quad dac version

How will I know when the phone 'sees' the full load?

So...I'm about to pull the trigger on the LG V20 and switch from iPhone to Android. I've ordered the impedance adaptor, but it won't get here until August 11-18th.

What I wonder, though, is if using an extender and a high impedance set of headphones like my HD650 would work as well as the impedance adaptor until it comes in.

Sure it works.

I would have thought the phone would automatically switch to high impedance mode if you plugged in the hd650 s as they are over 50 ohms

You really don't need the adapter if you have a small portable amp. Currently listening to a pair of low impedance cans and with the small amp there is no sound quality difference. Also this is the greatest phone ever... I do wish they would have given a few more audio options.

Right...I meant using the HD650 to trick the phone into high impedance as I would with an impedance adaptor and then change the headphone. If I leave the cable extender in the phone, it should still read as high impedance, right?

Anyone know of a software fix to permanently put the phone in high gain mode? Its a bit of a pain to fiddle with adapters to switch modes
I've found instructions for this online, but it requires that you root your phone.

I have no idea how to root a phone and hence I'm afraid I'd do something wrong and brick it.
