LG G6 Sound Quality

Could someone please screenshot how to differentiate whether the phone is in external mode, high impedance mode etc? I have the HiFi DAC model and while it sounds clean and is powerful, I'm not getting prompted about different modes. Headphones used: Sennheiser HD600 (300 Ohm), MEE Pinnacle P1 (50 Ohm) and VE Monk+ (64 Ohm)

In settings-sound-go below to hi fi DAC option, click three dot button and you can access DAC option

Does the DAC gets activated even with low impedance earphones like around 16ohm ?

No.
Use a multi-meter and measure your resistance in ohms of your headphones.
The high impedance will be activated when you have between 50ohm and 600ohm headphones.

I had some older headphones which measured 200ohm and they activated the high impedance mode.
My Grado's rated at 35ohm do NOT activate the high impedance mode and hence you need the amplifier on blackplayer in settings to help with these.

The LG G6 is more catered for these higher impedance headphones.

Here is what your should see when you are in high impedance mode.
Good luck.

This is what you see when external is connected.
Actually, i like it with the external. They sound awesome..

Edit: It's stunning sound now...

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know...
How Grado sounds against that Old 200ohms headphone in general ?

I have discovered a trick to get the Grado's to work in external audio device connected mode.
You can use the adapter (3.5mm to 6mm). Connect it first let the LG do it's thing and then connect the Grado headphones.

Sounds absolutely superb -detailed, resolution in this external mode.
I can also get some XX jvc headpones I have, in this mode but with a tad more effort.

You slightly push them in not to fully connect with headphone jack remove it and then reinsert and hopefully you will have external mode on.

I have tried with other normal headphones but cannot get it work in this external mode only normal.

Hope this helps

Edit: Just remember the external and high impedance mode triggers the internal amplifier
The normal mode does NOT

:)

Thanks... I will find 3.5mm male to female adapter or headphone splitter to activate external mode .
Somebody tried some Impedance Adapter of 100ohms or 75ohms to activate the High impedance mode. Have you tried that?

This will put it in high impedance mode, but it will attenuate the signal, and drastically increase the amp output impedance. So it is not recommended compared to other solutions.

+1
The best (to my ears) is the external mode.
Happy listening :)
