I've listened to the album twice since last time and indeed it grows on you. Also gave half the sepultura album a try and I admit I expected more. It's not that it's that bad or anything but there's nothing that sticks after you've listened to it.
Are there actually any more albums from other groups in the line of ghost?
I love classic Sepultura; BtR, Arise, AD, and Roots are all absolutely fantastic thrash metal albums. Everyone on this thread should know at least one Sepultura song from this era. I saw them live a few months back and they kicked butt. I heard the new song Kairos at the show and thought it was pretty darn good.
Then I listened to the whole album...
There IS a lot of classic Sepultura buried under the rumble called Kairos, but as you said, nothing really sticks. Most of these songs are in their infancy stage and need time to incubate but instead were released malnourished. That's the *feeling* I get. Again, given time, I think there are some killer songs in there but they never get the light of day. I listened to the whole album twice and nothing really sticks. They do try to invoke the old Sepultura with tracks like "Relentless" and "Embrace The Storm' so all is not lost. I do think the title track, 'Kairos' is an excellent tune.
I will listen to it again and see if I will have another "Enslaved" moment.
