Lets Talk Metal

I've listened to the album twice since last time and indeed it grows on you. Also gave half the sepultura album a try and I admit I expected more. It's not that it's that bad or anything but there's nothing that sticks after you've listened to it.

Are there actually any more albums from other groups in the line of ghost?

I love classic Sepultura; BtR, Arise, AD, and Roots are all absolutely fantastic thrash metal albums. Everyone on this thread should know at least one Sepultura song from this era. I saw them live a few months back and they kicked butt. I heard the new song Kairos at the show and thought it was pretty darn good.

Then I listened to the whole album...

There IS a lot of classic Sepultura buried under the rumble called Kairos, but as you said, nothing really sticks. Most of these songs are in their infancy stage and need time to incubate but instead were released malnourished. That's the *feeling* I get. Again, given time, I think there are some killer songs in there but they never get the light of day. I listened to the whole album twice and nothing really sticks. They do try to invoke the old Sepultura with tracks like "Relentless" and "Embrace The Storm' so all is not lost. I do think the title track, 'Kairos' is an excellent tune.

I will listen to it again and see if I will have another "Enslaved" moment.

You should give it a few more spins, I found it only gets better with the more times you listen to it. I think I have listened to the whole album all the way through about 6 times, my favorite song being "Blackberry."

It is a grower; hell, I didn't like it at first either...

x2, Blackberry is on my favourite playlist now.

TROGDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR

I really have no favourite album from this year as nearly all new releases nowadays disappoint me. Like "Back Through Time" by Alestorm, while it's funny and some of the covers are good it is honestly a rather horrible album. Though I could easily put their cover on "You're a Pirate" on repeat for an hour. xD

I really like that one song by them "Rum" and the intro to "Leviathan", it's really embarassing to play in the car though...

That is too funny....

I just gave a listen to some of their stuff. You guys know Swashbuckle? I've seen them a few times (always as an opening act for some other band).

Excellent list. You and me seem to have a lot of musical similarities. Keep it up!

Swashbuckle and Alestorm ain't quite the same thing.

@Chris: Rum is a good song, but it haven't got that extra special thing that makes it superb and perfect, unlike, lets say "famous ol' spiced", etc etc. And what do you mean, Leviathan intro, Leviathan is on another album? I have to say though, their cover of Barrett's privateers is one of those songs that sound awful at some parts, makes your ear hurt, but still you can't keep yourself from loving it. xD

True, both Swashbuckel and Alestorm are heavy metal pirates, that sail across the sky, in battleships of cosmis steel and spreading terror up on high.

Trogdor, "Brütal Legend" was all I could think too. XD Freaking awesome.

My contribution, kind of new Amon Amarth music video.
