Been into Kreator for 10 years, and I think they are actually getting better. This is maybe top 2017 material, going in my top 2017 ten or even top five, if the rest of the album sounds like the pre-release stuff.

Phantom Antichrist remains one of my favorite recent thrash albums. It's so good.

Kreator is one of the better well-known thrash bands, but I much prefer wilder thrash like Vektor.

Did you hear the new Immolation I posted? I think it's way better than most of their post-millennial material.

The two bands ( Kreator VS Vektor ) are completely different and not comparable in any form.

Liked Immolations 2013 release. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3vhbsH28jeI

Accept's latest was great, I thought.

Thanks for the link...

Most of the bands like AIC,Deep Purple,Queensryche,Danzig are either not metal IMO,and/or their best days are long gone.

Metal church I was never a fan of,even though I know Mike Howe and his wife very well.(and are very cool folks)

Accept,Priest...of course anything they do I will look forward to.

There are plenty of new bands doing classic metal, that are young, hungry and talented to keep filling up my harddrives.

This is kind of a cross post from Metalfi, but list is expanding.

I get kind of obsessive going through these metal year-end lists. So, I play catch-up in December. I've been on about a week long Metal streaming marathon-on my home system, Spotify and BC in the car, at work and my Ipod in the gym. I think I'm pretty much done.

Here's what I've crammed into my ears:

Batushka-Litourgiya
Harakari for the sky-III Trauma
Mare Cognitum-Luminiferous Aether
Astrnoid -Air
Gatekeeper-Sonoran Depravation
Murg-Gudatall
Mesarthim-some morse code **** Spiritus Mortis-This Year is One
40 Wat Sun-Wider than the Sky
Worm of Ouroborus-What Gracelss Dawn
Wode-S/T
Martrydod-List
Oranssi Pazuzu-Varathelija
Blood Incantation-Bloodspawn
Castle-Welcome to the Graveyard
Summerlands
CHTHE'LIST-la Dernier Crepuscle
Mismor-Yodh
Virus-Memento Collider
Cough-Still they Prey
Anciients-Voice of the Void
Sorcery-Garden of Bones (didn't spend too much time with this one)
Altarage-NIHL
High Spritis-Motivator
Dawnbringer

Hail Spirit Noir-Mayhem in Blue

Crap! Now, that's some serious listening.

So far, here's what I've bought from that listening:

Murg-Gudatall
40 Wat Sun
Worm of Ouroborus-What Gracelss Dawn
Wode-S/T
Blood Incantation-Bloodspawn
Cough-Still they Prey
Anciients-Voice of the Void

Deathsepll Omega-Synchronicity of Broken Bones
Swans-Glowing Man (not metal-but awesome)

A couple of others to plug. I very much liked Harikari For the Sky-it's a kind of very melodic post black metal, that's not exactly BM, there's some melodeth influence. I know some people have a gut reaction to "post black metal", but this is really good. For the record, I like some post black bands. These guys are not Deafheaven, however. Check them out if you can.

Batushka from last year are a great listen, too IMO. very interesting stuff. Chanting and BM-love that.

And, I think I'll also pick up Martrydod-there a kind of crust metal band with melodic almost NWOBHM influence. If you like crust, check them out. They're kind of awesome I think.

My ears are wringing. Today spending a bit of time comparing some of the dissonant stuff from earlier in the year.

From earlier in the year, the bands that I'd like to keep in a list would include in no particular order: Howls of Ebb, Zhrine, Ulcerate, DSO (which I just have listened to once-but think it's brilliant), CUL w/ Julie Christmas (maybe my favorite this year, certainly an early favorite), Sub Rosa, Hammers of Misfortune, Vektor, Inter Arma, Phobocosm, Katatonia, Asphyx, Neurosis, Goatess, Forteresse, Messa and Alcest. Clearly, I'm going to have to clean house especially if I make room for some of the new guys I listed above.

Bottom line-there has been a schiit ton of metal this year.

A consistently great hard rock & metal poll held every year is on ILM. The rollout started this weekend and continues tomorrow.
