I already posted on page 1, but wanted to note how proud of myself I am for keeping the main rig largely unchanged since start of August. That's like 6 months!!! By largely unchanged I mean that the source, amp and headphones are still there. I've swapped ICs from HGA Silver Lace to Cardas Neutral Refs and now to Oritek X1s. Also, every few listening sessions I'll swap the SDS input tube between a black glass Ken-Rad 6sn7 and a Sylvania 6sn7 WGT. Keeps things interesting; a little like a new rig every week

OK, so I have bought lots of headphone gear since August, but none of it has made its way into the main rig.

I'm impressed, mulvling; if I weren't out on my own (and a broke student -- when I lived at home, most of my money went to audio gear), I'd definitely change gear every three months, tops. Congrats though! (BTW, it doesn't count if it doesn't make it into your main rig

Sad news... since I'm broke and going to Germany for three months, my beloved DAC1 and DEQ are about to ship out to other headfiers (although they'll have good homes). The system that started with a pair of Grado SR-80s and a cheap Panasonic PCDP grew to a five-amplifier, ten-headphone, three CDP, DEQ monstrousity with more cables than I have dollar bills to my name. I found exactly what I want (24/192 source, DEQ, DAC1, HD600), and now I'm cutting back to my less-than-dreamlike, still-very-nice setup. No more Polks either, because I live in an apartment and they reside in my old bedroom at home.

As it stands:

Media: CD
Transport: Philips DVD-963SA
DAC: Onboard
Interconnects: Monster
Amp: Perreaux SXH-1

Headphone: Sennheiser HD-600

On the plus side, I know what I want in my audio gear now. And I listen to a lot more music via my mp3 player, anyways. Meh, such is life.
