Yes, The Dac is the only tube gear I have too. The rolling is a LOT of fun, as it can be done on the fly with the rectis, but you have to turn down the volume on the amp (or switch off) when rolling the output tubes. As they are all on top and easily accessible, it is very addictive and loads of fun. Very powerful feature, as you can vary the presenatation enormously. I am also lucky to have a local tube  guy who sells a lot these tubes very, very cheaply. At his cheap prices, I cleaned him out! However, even on Ebay, you can get a lot of these tubes without breaking the bank: 6A3/6b4g(with adapter) is still at good prices, 5u4g/5y3/type 80 and 83 (with adapter) also very reasonable.

My tube cage for the Big7 tubes, as a deterrent for the cat who loves to sleep near the tubes.
Two borosilicate glass cylinder of different diameter.

Aren't you afraid about sound quality? The movement of electrons is disturbed due to lower tube ventilation. The changed temperature of glass can cause scene to be more narrow, detailing became small and the bass texture is blurred... Take care or change these pretector to crystal diamond mars cryo treated ones.

OK, just kidding ;)

Just dropping in to say that I had a listen to Amber. I've compared it to Essence III and TeddyDAC. Amber was king of the hill all the way. He represents much higher level than those two, at some point me and my buddy felt that this comparison was unfair. From devices known to me, I'd start comparing Amber to products like at least Vega.

Quick sum up:
Amber - transparent, excellent dynamics, enormous soundstage, spot on texture, organics and smooth
EIII - muddy, warm, cosy, not really detailed in comparison, intimate
TeddyDAC - something between those two above

00L.

Finding myself tempted by the Big 7. Although twice my original DAC budget.

Hmmm :¬)

As I cannot tell you how much money you stolid spend. But as I won two B7 and have comfort it to a few pricy dacs. It's an easy recommendation for me. Then add to it the tube rolling and it's just the most versatile dac I know of or have heard about. Save up th shekels hahaha .

Any amp recommendations to pair with a Big 7 and Abyss?

Since the B7 gets insane reviews/feedback, I'm guessing a powerful but entirely transparent amp? Ragnarok? Taurus?

Bruce B in the lampi thread on computer audiophile thread own a pair . I think he uses the liquid gold from caravels
I have heard those headphones a few times and they just don't grab me. But they do sound nice and very cleanly detailed . I agree woth you about a neutral amp to pick from.
I can reccomend a tube amp so ypu coild roll tubes to get the sound you want.

Do you owna B7 dac as yet. Of not luk has a headac coming out I have it. It's the best of both worlds and it rolls all,the tubes as the B 7 does and has a driver tube to roll as well.

Just some thoughts

They're audio heaven for me. With a DAC like the Big 7 behind it I can't even imagine how much of an improvement it will be over the Conductor :¬)

No, I don't own one.

Are you speaking of this:
