LAMPIZATOR THREAD COMMENTS REVIEWS TUNING

Looks like released very recently. The new units with it are only recently hitting here. Also people have been getting their units upgraded. No pictures yet though. Good feedback so far that significant improvement. Don't know if lampizator challenges the absolute top tier in Pcm playback. But echoing what others have said, the DSD playback is considered world class. What wasn't mentioned is that a lot of people recommend coverting from Pcm to DSD and that it rivals the best in Pcm playback.

Interesting, thank you. Sorry to sound dumb, but how much material can be sourced in DSD format? Or is it down to converting RedBook from PCM to DSD and up sampling in software prior to feeding the Lampi? Last question, is DSD playing Redbook really better than straight R-2R non up sampled i.e bit prefect?

I can give you a few clues to help you answer some questions.
Regarding much in formats.
Yes there is far more music in PCM format that's true , but some of it is very in its format it's why a good PCM engine coulpled to a good dsc is important .

Now up sampling or down sampling is avery complex topic with no real answers as its all about the sound one likes period. I for one like it as it was and do neither and with a lampi dac tube rolling can give me the sound type I want .
There are some who up or down everything and this is fine too. Do not let anyone tell you what you like , but do try as others suggest get my point .

The new lampi PCM is very new and is a definite improvement and I do feel it's world class as in great in every way , but thus is my feelings . In direct comparison DSd is a bit softer less bite and less stressing to the mind . PCM has more bit something I have growen to like this. Up sampling looses this and some love it. The new PCM engine has some of the DSd sound to it. Even with my most strident tubes it's still calming .

If you can try one its world class at a very far from world class price tag and do not let anyone make you feel it's not. .
The dac sounds great on any speakers I have heard . Even any headphones , and I have many flagships too.
I hope this helps someone or some people and search other forums for more views on this dac brand. Many I know have traded in there world class for this brand dac and have plenty of money left over .

Thanks Alrainbow
That is a very concise answer. I have an Audio Note 4.1 DAC which is similar to the older Lampi models.

I have an interest in the discrete R-2R boards as I am thinking this is the next step up. It also does away with chip and can also handle above 96K at bit prefect resolution which is a bonus. I do however have 97% 44.1 material which sounds great already.

1) Way more material in pcm but DSD is growing fast
2) yes, people using software (ha player, Jriver, etc.) to up convert to DSD and sending to lampi as DSD
3) hard to say which is better. The lampi DSD is really good and r2r ladder is so new.

Hi I am new to the forums and new to Lampizator. I have ordered a Lampizator lite 7 and I'm looking for streamer suggestions. I am currently using a Lumin A1 with Lumins software also with Roon and Tidal. I have a Qnap Nas with about 4tb of music on it. I'm thinking that using the Lumin A1 as just a streamer might be a bit of a waste. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I think lumin d1 would work for you. Another possibility would be to use auralic Aries or mini. They are controllable by lumin app. Not quite as slick as lumin but works fine.

You saw a bunch of BIG7 for sale when the GG first came out from upgrades but not really recently. Check out the lampi board on audiocircle. I think they had a special one available in near future from upcoming show. Also, talk to mike from audioshark on lampi board

Of the many dacs I Have owned or heard the lamp I B 7 is one I could Recomend with kit hearing to try one
Why ?
It tube rolls this allows one to tailor the sound from front to back as well as analytical to smooth
Next is it does both Pcm and dsd equally and excellent
With the new versions of Pcm and dsd engines it now beats my msb stack completely
My msb is three times the price
Just some thoughts
