I'm very curious new KR 45 globes being made specifically for lampizator.

I'm surprised we haven't heard more about lampizator GG and Big 7 here. could be the price tag. But I hear awesome things about the new r2r pcm module. Still trying to decide which to buy, GG or big 7

Hello. Some forums have many more posts . I have a head dac that's a moded big 7 with the new r2r PCM and DSd 256. The new PCM is off the hook , it's like DSd but has the dynamics of PCM . It's hard to explain really. I love both formats and it's still easy to know DSd from PCM with it. But the PCM is less fatiguing like DSd is. As for the new tubes I have two pairs reserved when they arrive . My big 7 is still in Poland waiting on some parts and I am still deciding what o add to it. If you can afford the GG get it as looks alone is really cool and the sound is better than the B7 too. Now ypur real quoting that you have not asked is SE or BAL ? Lol.

Haahaa. I am in trouble now. Problem is the lampizator GG/big 7 might be a bit expensive for headphone setup. My L5 seems awesome already. Not as slick as some other DACs but the DSD is ridiculous.

Hello,
I´ve had the Lampi 5 balanced with variable output for two months or so and I still am very impressed about the overall performance.
Unfortunately with my Lamp 5 there is not much room for tube rolling. It is equipped withe two E 182CC tube and there is not much to swapp them with.
One can just buy a different brand of these tubes.
Besides that it really is amazing how smooth and detailed the Lampi performs.
I never was really convinced that higher resolution would really add something positive to the "sound", maybe in some instances 24/96 will, but a DAC like the Lampi reveals what´s really possible with 16/44 and there is no need for higher resolution (any more) or even DSD.
With that said I wouldn´be a HighEnd freak if I would stop thriving for the better.
I´ve read about the R2R Discrete DAC but haven´t really found a lot of information on Lampizator´s homepage about it.
Price and technical details would be interesting.
The R2R chip dac is already included in the Level 5.
Cheers
Kai

Interesting my Big5 is using 6X5 and 6sn7 so I have a ton of rolling options and way too many tubes play with.

As for the new R2R PCM board, didn't know they put it in the L5 as well.  I hear is it a significant improvement.  Luckily, lampizator has been great about doing the upgrades for existing owners.

Ended up with Balanced GG. Saw all the pictures of them and couldn't resist the tube porn. Nice thing is just in time for the special edition Eml 45 mesh globes being made specifically for lampizator.

Also lampizator trade in program is great as wasn't as bad as I thought with trade in value I got. In any case, pictures when I get it.

Hello,
congrats to that machine.
I´m still up to finally auditioning one but in the meantime I remain very happy with my Level 5.
Trade in program?
I haven´t heard about that yet. How does that work?
Cheers
Kai

Depending on how long you have had your L5, you get up to 100% of your L5 value towards upgrade. I had L5 as well for just under a year and got close to 100%.

You sure Lampizator is doing a discrete DAC as in multiple resistor ladder board like the TotalDAC? I thought they used chips instead, and that the chip based Redbook version was an option only on the current Lampi 5 (Lampi 6 is gone, and Lampi 7 is DSD and oversampling chip).

Lampi has R2R discrete ladder PCM and delta sigma PCM. The Delta sigma seems to have been in constant development and is about on par with the discrete Ladder version, I am told. Most of the recent online prauises have been for the discrete ladder, but with the leap ahead of the DS version, I am not sure what to say anymore.

DSD in the Lampi is chip less, ie no DAcchip used at all. Totally separate engine to PCM.

I see. Is there any photos of the discrete ladder board? I can't see any.

I have had both PCM engines and both Dsd engines
In a direct comparison to a 35 k msb plat stack with Galaxy two clock
Winston was a witness for many hours. The dsd is better more life like or as some say analog sounding
I felt at the time it was a toss up on PCM me being msb on top. Now with the new PCM engine it's past that toss up. A clear winner in both dsd
Keep In mind the new dsd engine is even more liife like then the original B 7 I had.
There is no doubt that the golden gate or my modded head dac is a true flagship and top contender with any dacs made and any price point. I cannot say I have compered it my self
To many crazy priced dacs but I do know someone who has and completely agree with his views.

Looks like released very recently. The new units with it are only recently hitting here. Also people have been getting their units upgraded. No pictures yet though. Good feedback so far that significant improvement. Don't know if lampizator challenges the absolute top tier in Pcm playback. But echoing what others have said, the DSD playback is considered world class. What wasn't mentioned is that a lot of people recommend coverting from Pcm to DSD and that it rivals the best in Pcm playback.
