what gain-adjustment do you use with the HD800 ? .... I mate my HD800 with -12dB in the Gain, so to respect the headphone dynamic capability not to overload it, in this way the headphone resolves many tiny details, please share yours opinions

+6db setting with HD 800 . I use XLR in from my DAC (Aqvox) .
Still have not found better amp for HD800. (I listen mostly to classical music & jazz).
If you have try Dadawa : Sister Drum or Brian Eno : This, and some A. Copland: Fanfare for a common man. No speakers can reproduce this as HD800 & V100.

A balanced V200 version (perhaps V282
regular_smile .gif
) will have V200 amp topologie inside - meaning a total of 32 transistors - and will be operated from +/- 60 volt.

Do you have any idea about the price of the balanced version of the V200?

Believe me, it will be better then the audio-gds, judging from my experience.

Accoridng the Fried the V100 has high current to drive low impedance can and also big voltage swings to drive high impedance cans. Based on my preliminary listening I think this is true but I will confirm with a more detailed listening later.

Has anyone compared it to the V181 in its balanced as well as unbalanced out?
The V181 seems to have more power/current than the V100. It's about 1.6V more in voltage and 40mW/channel more @ 600 Ohms

I just checked with Fried Reim with Lake People.  The front panels for the V181 are not the way they want them so they are changing them.  The V181 should be ready around week 22 (early June?).  I can order direct on-line and they will send to the US for 35 EUR.  He suggests I use PayPal if I buy directly.

Question to anyone that has used PayPal with currency conversion.  If I read PayPal right, they want to charge me 3% for the conversion from $ to EUR and then charge the Lake People 4%.  The total of 7% in fees sounds excessive to me.  Does anyone else have experience with PayPal conversion fees?

I also got some info from him

V100 and V200 are not very similar in terms of their amplifiers,
but they are quit close concerning their output voltage.
Both are best suited to drive high impedance cans like T1

As V181 is intended to operate best in balanced mode,

it is compareable to V100 and 200.

In unbalanced mode the output voltage swing is only 50 % of the voltage swing of the balanced mode.
So - for my opinion - it is not as good suited of high impedance cans like V100 or V200.

From the sonic aspects V100 and V181 are quite similar.
Compared with V200, V181 gives more room or open sound in balanced mode.
V200 on the other hand seems to be more "musical".

So, if you want a balanced headphone amplifier for balanced headphones, V181 would be best choice.
If you want highest quality sound, V200 would be the best.

All our amps are totally neutral in sound an will not change anything coming from your source.

V181 is ALLWAYS equipped with 4-pin XLR and no USB input.

The standard USB input 16/48 will cost 100 EUR,
The 24/96 USB will cost 150 EUR but it is not ready in the moment.
We hope we can deliver in July.
But USB options are very easy to install afterwards without soldering, only pushing a connector in place and fixing 3 screws.

Sorry for the typo. My experience is that I've owned or tried several Audio-Gd' s products, including their DAC  and phoenix. To me, they sounds good but not impressive. V200 on the other hand surprised me and I'm really looking forward to the balanced V200.

Why you don't just order it from Robert (www.AphroditeCu29.comm) instead and forget about the Paypal issues? He is Violectric distributor for the USA.

Jian,
So in your opinion does the SE V200 sound better than the Phoenix when used balanced?
Thanks

I've tried HD800 with balanced cable on phoenix. To me the sound is mellow, but a bit too soft and lack of dynamic and speed. I guess this is lao He's taste, and I respect him but its just not my thing. On the other hand I like V200 so much that I actually bought it today in cash
beerchug.gif
, after again listening to it with T1, ED8 and HD 800. I just can't wait for the V282. I might upgrade my V200 though when the 282 come out.

EUR has gotten so cheap against the US $ that it is significantly cheaper to buy direct.

Loos like there is about $73 difference. I would contact Robert anyway he might give you a deal.
