Lake People V181: a new balanced amp <$1000

I agree with markm1111.
I do not need another DAC.
In both V200 and in a balanced V200 version (in future) DAC should be optional.
IMHO this 2 top amps shouldn't have any DAC on board... buying good amp most of us have already a DAC.

I finally finished the burn-in process of my recent purchased V100. I did not have much time last night to listen to it but I did listen to 3 of my standard song I use when comparing equpiment or cables.

The V100 sounds fantastic. It is very powerful and clean. The bass is deep, fast and tight. The midrange is just natural (not sweet not harsh) and the highs are very clear and prcise.

The soundstage presentation is not huge but nor small. it is just what the recoding provides nothing more nothing less. One thing I notice is the ability to present the instrument and voices in the soundstage specially in the depth perception.

There was somehting in the sound that for sometime I couldn't pin point but finally got it and it was the lack of nosie. This amp has a very black background. The sound comes out of nowhere.

First impression after burn-in: A winner.

I will do more listening and a comparison to the GS-1 laster in a separate thread.

Actually I was using a low impedance headphones D7000.
During the burn-in process I gave in to temptation and did a little listening with my T1 (high impedance) and I think they sounded better than even driven by my big RP010B.

Accoridng the Fried the V100 has high current to drive low impedance can and also big voltage swings to drive high impedance cans. Based on my preliminary listening I think this is true but I will confirm with a more detailed listening later.

As i wrote in other posts, V100 was the best amp (so far) to drive Senn HD800.
I am glad that you also have found this amp revealing bringing the music unaltered.

Enjoy!

I have the v100 ... it is not black backgrouding ... it is silent .
Like the Pioneer KUDO : it is dark,but not not black in colour ;
many tiny info that are previously obscured but it is there, and should be there.

what gain-adjustment do you use with the HD800 ? .... I mate my HD800 with -12dB in the Gain, so to respect the headphone dynamic capability not to overload it, in this way the headphone resolves many tiny details, please share yours opinions

That is what I meant when I said a total black background.... Silent.

I am interested in the Violectric HPA V181.  Where am I likely to be able to get it the cheapest?  The Euro is down against the US $, so I was thinking about buying directly from the Lake People.  Has anyone ordered directly from Violectric?  Any idea what they charge for shipping?  Has anyone ever used Paypal to pay Euros with dollars?  Is it complicated?  How are the conversion fees?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You can either directly buy from the Violectric website or from http://www.thomann.de where the prices are usually a bit lower than the official website. However they don't have the V181 right now, you may want to mail them about it though.

You can also buy it here in the USA from Robert at WWW.AphroditeCu29.com
He is the USA distributor for Violectric now.

Bought V100 from lake people directly. Payed by paypal. (note: I am in Europe)
Email Mr Fried Reim at Lake people (see Violectric site) .
He will give you further info (advice which product would be best for you, shipping costs etc.)

I always buy from the producer (if possible). I never buy from the cheapest especially not from huge companies like Thomann.

Regards
