Hi,i own: hifiman he500 ,lafigaro339(with tung-sol 5998 and rca red 5693),senn hd 650,violectric V200,lcd-2,crack bottlehead:

Hifiman he500 +lafigaro: sound great but i prefer he500 +violectric v200:this last pair is very good for everything.
Senn hd650+lafigaro+good tubes:perfect smooth pair for acoustic and voices
Violectric + lcd-2:very good for energizing music
senn hd650:very very good for price, but DIY.

What do you own? What do you listen?
If you have a sennheiser hd 650 take a lafigaro(with the good tubes :+200$)
if you have a he 500 take a violectric v200

if you want an amp + can:
*for acoustic jazz and smooth:senn hd 650+lafigaro
*for all different kind of music and medium smooth:he 500+violectric V200
*for rock and big bass,energy:lcd-2 + Violectic V200
*for small money(for the quality) and DIY,jazz,acoustic,jazz-rock,pop,clean and clear sound:hd650+crack.
Off course it is my personal opinion(but sharing with some other people who own these equipment).

PS:sorry for my bad english(it is not my mathorly language)

I listening Vocals, 80-90 Rock, Pop, R&B, Rock some Electronic, Jazz, Instrumental. Now at my playlist are Bryan Adams, Evanescence, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Celine Dion, Lana Del Rey, Katie Melua, Coldplay, Hans Zimmer  Now i had  Sennheiser HD 555 integrated sound :frowning2: it sukx
I want to go for LCD 2 rev. 2 or HE-500 but i can't decide which are better for me. I hear LCD 2 Has Norrow Sounstage, and recesed trebles, But has more natural and  richer mids, better tonality and bass best of the best. HE-500 Lower quality bass, little lower midrange, but very good energy treble. He-500 more musical LCD 2 more industrial. HE-500 more musical at what gentres ? Orchestral, ? more musical becouse has better soundstage or...???

My max budged are 1900$ for Headphones, Amp, Dac.

me too english so bad.

An other option is lcd-2 +Alo pan am(with passport or gateway):i don't listen them together but i know it is also a very good matched pair(and dac inside:perhaps not the best dac of the world, but enough good):budget:995+599+149=1743$:you are in the budget.
This setup is in accordance with your taste ,i think. After you will can make tubes rolling on the pan am(tubes for this amp are not really expansive).
HE500 has more hifi sound than lcd-2;it is betwen HD650 and LCD-2;for me LCD-2 is good at loud volume,so i can't use it more than 30mn;HE500 is good at medium volume:i can use it 1 hour;HD650 is good at small volume:i can use it more than 2 hours.
HE500 has the more natural sound
HD650 is smoother and refined
LCD-2 has the best Prat

I would recommend the LCD2 over the HE500 as many people like it over it. Than a Lyr and an Bifrost and if you need it with USB. Now, I, do not think spending over $200 on a DAC is reasonable so me, personally, I would recommend a Woo Audio WA5 with a ODAC. Not sure how many other people will like my recommendation though.

WA5 is outside budget.
I think Violectric V200 sound better with LCD-2 than lyr.
If you use usb, you can take a HRT musicstreamer II+,violectric V200,LCD-2=300€+777€+995€=2072€
I own also a Burson HA-160(without dac),but with the lcd-2 i prefer the v200(more smooth and better rhythm articulation)

Why don't you take this to the 339 thread

I love the 339 + HE500 more as my V200 + HE500
The V200 + LCD2 is better as on the 339

Can you give more details on the HE-500, 339 combo?  Also will the 2011 or 2013 version of the 339 be better with the HE-500's?
