krell ksa-5 head amp

I saw a very old posting. Do you still have this amp and are you still listening to it ?
I bought one (without volume control) and am using it with a Creek passive pre amp and Senn 600's. It sounds great to me but then again I listen through regular full sized speakers most of the time so have nothing much to compare it too, headphone rig wise.
I don't want to get rid of it or anything. Just wondered what other listeners thought that's all.

I still have mine, which I bought which also had no volume control when I bought it,I was able to get the faceplate & knob from Krell years back
& converted it over & added a dact volume pot.Replaced caps with Blackgate NXS,& panasonic caps.

Its a great amp I love mine.

That is not cheap at all...  For the DIY inclined we have reverse engineered the KSA-5V and the PCB designs will be available for anyone to build.

The Krell KSA-5 must be a collector item. They were $1.5k new when they came out in the early 90's.

But $3.75k BIN? (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Krell-KSA-5-Headphone-Amplifier-/181139056407?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item2a2cbaa717)

There are just 3 pcb's in existence and that's just for the prototype run.  Once they are verified to work as they should then we will release the Gerber files.  Here is how far I got before I ran out of parts:

Should have all the parts soon though.

Any listening impressions on the clone? I'm thinking of doing a build. :)

Nice. Does the dated design hold it's own compared to something like a B22?

Ok, game on. :)
1st step seems to get a board spun if none are lurking around....thoughts?

I think most would call it superior to the B22.

I would like updates on this amp as well.  I am excited to see how it turns out and maybe get my hands on one of those boards so I can build one myself.
