Koss KSC vs Philips HP805(King of Budget cans) Exhaustive Detailed Review. READ !

I got my SHP805 yesterday and I'm pretty impressed with their sound signature and a little less impressed with their clarity and level of detail.
They're used, so I assume that they've been burnt-in. I must say that I find their brightness excellent, they're a little brighter than neutral, but they aren't by any means painful. I'm also pretty happy with the fact that their sound is much more involving than that of the HD215. Given that I can forgive the slight lack of detail. They're excellent for the price.

So you think they're better than the HD215? I was thinking about getting the HD215... But if these are better....

How's the comfort compared to the 215's?

I don't think they're better, they're merely different. The HD215 beats the SHP805 hands down in clarity and detail, but I've found the SHP805 much more entertaining even though they don't sound as precise, refined and faithful as HD215.
The comfort is pretty good, they are circumaural - just like HD215, but their pads are a little warmer.

i think i like it with my pa2v2 more than my headfive somehow. i don't know why. i think even my project amp mate better than my headfive. and for the price, the philips is hard to beat but still i got one complaint. it's not exactly the build quality but when i'm moving around. i can hear the "moving sound". that's a bit annoying but for the price and for the sound quality. it's good enough. this really make me want to try the hp1000. too bad they discontinued.

Anyone noticed that Philips - who change their product line-ups more often than some people their underwear - changed their headphone line-up yet again?

It's official: the SHP805 is no more. You can see Philips' newest cans here, for example:

SHP 2700 (35 EUR)
SHP 8500 (50 EUR)
SHP 8900 (79 EUR)

Who'd have thought? They finally dropped the moronic self-adjusting headband. These might even be wearable ...

I no longer own these cans, gave them to a friend last year.
My last EQ setting:
Code:

Code:
[left]0 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 0 0 1 3 5 6 5 6 7 7 4 0 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 0 0 1 3 5 6 5 6 7 7 4[/left]

Last but one, just to be sure:
Code:

Code:
[left]0 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 0 0 0 1 2 3 5 6 8 8 4 0 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 0 0 0 1 2 3 5 6 8 8 4[/left]

(I had to dig out this thread again since all the URLs changed.)
