I'd reccomend to everyone using the KZ planars to upgrade to the KZ 784 core cable. I've let two non-audiophile friends try them blind and they claim to hear an improvement with the 784 cable. A nice bonus is the fact that the cables make the PR2 easier to drive as well (higher conductivity).

Another package on the doorstep this morning. KZ PR2 arrived! They were ordered on April 27 and mine don't have the mesh over the top of the magnets. On a phone they can reach uncomfortable levels but struggle below 75% volume. BTR3K, FD3 and R2 can drive them okay but not as well as SR25 (surprise). So all up, these are hungrier power wise, than P1Max! I haven't tried them on a balanced cable or tip rolled yet. OOTB these sound simply amazing for the $29 they cost me. Many thanks also for the KZ Global Store code, to whoever originally posted it!
Finally got my PR2, I’m not super experienced with IEMs but my initial impressions are that you have to spend like $300 to get this sound quality in over ears
Has anyone (who has received their PR2) paired it with the balanced 4.4 output on the RU6? Interested to know if the RU6 powers it well enough. It powers my DT770 Pros (250Ω), but I know that planars can be just as hard/if not harder to drive.
I skipped on the foams when I first got them too for comfort reasons but have grown to like them. The CoreIR tips made them a bit too bright.

Yup, Quarted has the PR2 v2. No driver mesh and denser nozzle mesh.
Nope, first it heard of it. I already have multiple cables and the main appeal of the 784 was its price/performance so I may or may not get it in the future depending on need.
While I know that cables can (and do) make a difference. The main benefit you'll get is swapping from a bad to decent cable. Decent to expensive tends to be negligible, at least until you go to the category of cables aiming to colour (read degrade) the sound which I'm not interested in.
I've seen people spending thousands on cables to cope with their bad (but expensive) iem purchase, don't go there.

You can spend thousands and get a worse sounding iem than the PR2. I would compare the PR2 to the Euclid but unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to try it yet. But hey, I expected a better extended Zetian Wu Heyday with my PR2 purchase and it delivered so that's great.
Broke my self-imposed moratorium on budget sets with this purchase. Expectations were low and at some point I wished I’d cancelled it. But it’s surprisingly good. Pretty even-handed tuning and decent technicalities for a planar straight out of the box, stock everything. Is this what I missed while I was away? Can’t say I’m regretting it so far and I haven’t even started tip or cable rolling.

Today arrived KZ PR2 from KZ Global. Thanks for the discount coupon. Unbelievable what you can buy these days for 35€. Unbelievable what power it needs. Forget cell phones, weak dongles, even mediocre performing DAPs. What you will hear from them is not even half of what the PR2 can really do with a decent dose of power.
So I've been trying them (pr2) for a couple days and they weirdly sound the best directly from my phone(poco x3 pro), it's like the nicest shallow V shape...
I have the tempotec sonata hd pro and you have to trick it with a 3.5 extension or it just doesn't give you enough power and even then they sound a bit too crispy in the top end, tried them on my liquid spark and same, guess the combination of sensitivity and impedance play well with my phone's crappy internal dac lol.
also tried them with a different iem cable for the mic and I straight up lost the bass from the amps guess they didn't like the 4 poles

Best from something more powerful, but still sound good for $35 from a phone. I haven't been as impressed by a shift in performance/cost since CRA. I'd still happily recommend these to someone starting out, on the basis they will step up later with a better source.
