Kennerton Thekk, the Pro version of the Kennerton Thror ?
Good morning all.
In a few days (or a few weeks at the latest), I should receive the order for the first ever Kennerton Thekk headphones, serial number TK-001, which would be the lightweight and cheaper version of the brand's current Kennerton flagship, the Thror.
Thekk (Þekkr) is one of the alternative names of the Nordic god Odin: it also means "Welcome One".
This new isodynamic headphones (planar) manufactured by Kennerton, includes drivers derived from those of Thror: high-tech drivers with carbon fiber frame and membrane of last generation, high technology, in "honeycomb".
It differs from the Thror, by a much more universal headband and practical to use, lighter, derived from the Kennerton Magni (closed electrodynamic headphones) and taken again with the new Odin 2019 and the new Vali 2019; Thekk has its own design with an ultra-light outer grille made of aluminum alloy (see photo attached).
Kennerton Thekk TK-001 in stabilized Karelian birch ; ultra-light external grids made of aluminium alloy.
The Kennerton Thekk will be the lightest and most comfortable headphones in the entire Kennerton headphones range, weighing only 350 g (for standard woods), and up to 400 g (50 g extra) for my very special version of the Thekk TK-001 in Karelian birch wood, stabilized, "bi-coloured" (partially impregnated with blue resin and, as a result, more heavier).
Birth of the Thekk TK-001 in stabilized Karelian birch
For memory, my Kennerton Thror headphones weighs 470 g, and my Kennerton Odin mk2 headphones, 680 g!
Thekk is twice as light as the Odin!
It is also lighter than most competing orthodynamics headphones.
Thekk should be produced in different qualities of wood:
-Purple Heart
-Bubinga
-Bog Oak
-Curly Maple
-Golden Pear
-Cherry
Otherwise, to locate the Kennerton Thekk at the price level, the price in France of Thekk will be 26% cheaper than the Thror, according to the French importer of Kennerton products, Pierre Paya.
Otherwise, according to the designer, the sound of Thekk would be very close to that of Thror, perhaps even a little more precise; I will tell you when I receive this headphones (soon) and compare it to my Kennerton Thror headphones (THR-001).
Viva 2A3 amp ; Kennerton Thror (bog oak) ; Kennerton odin mk2 (Karelian birch)
I bought this headphones Thekk for my wife, to be able to listen together the same music (or watch movies together): my Thror and Thekk headphones plugged into the two jack 6.35 mm jack output of my Viva 2A3 amp.
The headband of my Thror (rigid) being adapted to my head (fixed settings), while the headband of Thekk (self-adaptive, very flexible), adapts immediately to all forms of heads. It will be much more practical, intuitive and user-friendly.
To conclude, you will be able to follow the latest information on this new Kennerton planar headphones Thekk, on the main Kennerton thread, here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/ken...di-thekk-and-thror-discussion.732814/page-163
