Ha Dave, love the crayon box idea! (They ARE cool-looking tins-- why not). Might do the same thing for my daughter... Also, BTW, based on your bookshelves-- nice to see you are into some good science literature. (My training is philosophy, but I appreciate good (and accessible/non-specialist) science writing.

Hi- all.

Latest news about the Kennerton Tror on HCFR (in France) and the possible upgrade of the drivers of the current Odin with those of the Tror.
Estimation of the price of the transformation (change of the drivers of the Odin with those of the Tror): 1200 Euros (in Euros, all taxes included), as well as an estimated price of the Kennerton Tror in Europe: around 3600 Euros (all taxes included, with the 20% tax VAT).

Hi all.
I should receive tuesday, october 3, the prototype of the Kennerton Tror, for a loan of 48 H, thanks to the kindness of my friend and French importer of brand Kennerton, Pierre Paya.
I will be able to compare for two days, at home, this prototype of the highly anticipated Kennerton Tror, new flagship of the mark Kennerton, with my current Odin mk2, wooden in Karelian birch, with my Viva 2A3 amplifier which has two headphone outputs.
It is the same prototype of the Kennerton Tror which has already been shown recently at the Helsinki exhibition in Finland and earlier still at High-end 2017 in Munich, Germany; prototype of the Tror, significantly lighter than the Odin, which owns the new High-tech drivers "in honeycomb", lighter and more performing than those of the Odin.
The prototype I will receive will differ from the production model planned for the beginning of the year 2018, essentially by its external aesthetic grid with the logo "T", currently made of synthetic material, whereas the final model should have a external grid (aluminum alloy ?), finely finished and significantly lighter than the current heavy external grid, in zinc, with chevrons, of the current Odin.
The weight of the prototype Tror may therefore not be identical to that of the series (for this question of material of the external grid in particular), but the sound should be the same.
I would like to thank Kennerton (and his French importer) for this trust.
The prototype will be returned to the French importer who will present it at the Salon des Sound-Days 2017 in Paris on October 14th and 15th, a kind of mini French CanJam since 3 years, very popular in France.
I will keep you informed of my listening impressions and will give you some pictures; I will also weigh both headphones (Odin mk2 Vs Tror, without the cable) with the reserve indicated above regarding the material used for the external grid, and possibly other internal components that could be different between the prototype presented here and the model of final serie.

Hi Eric) Some explanation with my google-translated English
d_Pocket_PC.gif

Le Kennerton Tror, à gauche, avec son câble d'origine (en fil de Litz, gainé coton noir ?), en tout cas bien souple et joli à regarder.
This is our new custom cable. It contains our vintage Soviet litz wires like in our early custom cables. We already produced several pcs for sale. And we want to know your opinion about usability and sounding.

This is test cables with American and Chinese litz inside. Our handmade too. We just try to create a cables with different design and sound. At the moment we do not plan to do this cables massively. It's just an experience. We sent it to you for evaluation.

Hi all,

While waiting to write my listening impressions, on the French forum (for convenience of language), then on Head-Fi, answering of course your questions, I can already say that I have advanced well in my comparative listening between these two headphones: Kennerton Odin mk2 and Kennerton Tror (prototype); the comparison between these two headphones is really exciting.
Before I say more, I will give you two learned equations; to everyone to imagine what they can represent ...

First equation: (Audeze LCD3F + Kennerton Tror) / 2 = Kennerton Odin mk2

Second equation: (Kennerton Odin mk2, with upgraded Kennerton cable in Litz wire + Stax SR-009) / 2 = Kennerton Tror, with the Pierre Paya's Vectura C cable (also in Litz wire)
