Hello!

The wood type used in Dusk models is the European Oak. It is soaked in the several layers of "dusk" tint, and that is how it receives its look.

Bog Oak - is extra rare (and expensive) nowadays for us, we have very limited supply of, that is why we do not craft anything out of it lately.

Thank you! Are the Baltic Sea Rognir Dynamic also made of European Oak?

I visited the Kennerton workshop yesterday, listened to some models of headphones.

Asked when the new models would be ready for sale - unfortunately the guys still find it difficult to answer
I also asked about shipping abroad - they replied that there were no problems with orders on the official website. just place an order, pay and you will receive a parcel

Thanks for the update; keep the info coming. Interesting to see the sources/amps being used. Kennerton really need add a Bakoon amp to their arsenal. They're a match made in synergy heaven with planar headphones.

I was at the Kennerton production site two weeks ago.
All headphones (HeartLand, Thekk, Rognir Planar, Wodan and Kennerton Gjallarhorn JM Edition) listened with CEntrance HiFi-M8 V2.
Of course, compared to the Audio GD R7HE MK2 + Master 9PS home stack, the sound was somewhat simplified in terms of detail, size and layers of the virtual scene, but this did not cause discomfort.
As a result, I purchased the HeartLand (a new driver in the Thekk enclosure)
I would describe them as an improved Focal Utopia model, with a wide and deep soundstage with no tunnel effect, and no brightness at the upper mid and high frequencies.
In my opinion, these are the best and most balanced headphones I've owned and the ones I've listened to in stores (Utopia, LCD3, HD800s, HE1000 v2, Meze Empyrean, TH900, T1).

The graph shows the frequency response with two different pairs of ear pads.

P.S
To clarify, the purchased HeartLand is actually a pre-production sample in a Thekk enclosure. The final version may be different.

Here are a few links for you guys to enjoy.

These products look boss to say the least. There are also a few earphones, cables, and even amps

The spec sheet and information in the pdf for the headphones look great, what do you guys think?
Odin is heavy but very good sound

Hello to all.

I'm not sure that the new Kennerton open planar headphones, the Heartland (HL) which succeeds the Thekk is more balanced than the Thekk, with the original Heartland pads (black FR curve) and even worse with the Heartland (bass-boost) pads (red FR curve) compared to the FR curve (green) of my Kennerton THEKK (SN TK 001).

The most balanced headphone to my knowledge being the Sennheiser HD 560 S ...

(Nb: see the FR curves, but on another measurement bench, of my Thekk versus Sennheiser HD 560S): the Thekk is cruelly lacking in upper-midrange, and this can be heard clearly on female voices and guitars which are too muffled in the 1000 to 4000 Hz frequency range.

First of all, I did not talk about the Sennheiser HD 560 S, but only about the above-mentioned headphones.

Secondly, as for Thekk.
They clearly lack the bass backing, unlike the Heartland.
In addition, those of my test recordings that sounded harsh in the mid high frequencies with the HD800 were also quite uncomfortable on the Thekk.
They also sounded harsh on the LCD3, and just muddy on the Meze Empyrean.
Heartland had no problem with them at all.

Do not listen to headphones on the frequency chart.

And one more addition - often, these graphics are taken from new, unheated drivers. Be sure this curve will change as the membrane becomes more flexible.

Also keep in mind that this membrane is 20uM thick (as Rognir's one), and Thekk's membrane - 10 uM, so the new drivers have some 'rolled off' frequencies, but after warming up it will rise higher.

I find it instructive to look at FR curves as it can give insights into how a headphone or speaker will likely sound as well as an engineering tool to result in good sound. But we don't necessarily buy audio equipment for how it measures but by how it sounds. FR curves only give part of the total picture, i.e. they indicate little on important sonic aspects like dynamic range, soundstaging, speed, detail, spaciousness, transparency. IMO looking at a FR curve for a piece of equipment and then pronouncing its sonic abilities is short-sighted.
