Hi all.

In France, the price of the Kennerton Thekk, the Pro version of the Thror, lightened in weight and price, will be 26% cheaper than the Thror.

Its weight (for the lightest wood), will be only 350 g!

To compare to:
- Hifiman He-1000 V2: weight 420 g.
- Meze Empyrean: weight 430 g.
- ENIGMAcoustics Dharma 1000: weight 450 g.
- Hifiman Susvara: weight 450 g.
- Stax SR-009 S: weigh.455 g (1 lb).
- Hifiman He-1000: weight 480 g.
- Focal Utopia: weight 490 g.
- Audeze LCD4: weight 600 g.
- JPS Abyss AB-1266: weight 660 g.

I'm very interested in this also. If anyone has given the new Vali a listen, I'd love to hear your impressions and differences from the 1st version. I'm thinking about taking the plunge, but I need more info.

Hi.

To my knowledge, no review on the new Vali 2019 (which has just appeared); the only info comes from one of Kennerton's employees on this Russian forum (below).

The sound of the new Vali (2019) will be a little darker, but also more detailled than that of the old Vali.

Hi all.

Kennerton made very big progress in the weight of their headphones compared to the very first Odin and Vali.

Kennerton Odin mk1 and mk2 (open orthodynamic headphones): weight 680 g

New Kennerton Odin 2019 (open orthodynamic headphones) (keeping the heavy Zinc grids of the Odin mk1 and mk2): weight 620 g (for the lightest weight woods).
(nb: weight reduction of 60 g, compared to the Odin mk2, with the new headband and the new wooden cups).

Odin Thridi (mk3) (open orthodynamic headphones): weight 580 g (nb: 100 g gained on the Odin mk2 thanks to its ultralight external grids made of composite material).

Kennerton Vali (open electrodynamic headphones) (quite heavy with the old headband and massive drivers): weight 550 g.

New Kennerton Vali (2019) (open electrodynamic headphones): weight 490 g.
(nb: weight reduction of 60 g, compared to the Vali, with the new headband and the new wooden cups).

Kennerton Thror (open orthodynamic headphones): weight 470-480 g.
(nb: weight reduction of about 200 g, compared to the Odin mk2, with lightened drivers with a carbon fiber frame and ultralight outer grids made of composite material).

Kennerton Thekk (open orthodynamic headphones): weight 350 g (for the lightest version of wood, otherwise 50 g more for Karelian birch wood cups impregnated with resin (stabilized wood)).
(Nb: weight reduction of nearly 330 g, compared to the Odin mk2, with the new headband, lightened drivers with a lightweight carbon fiber frame, very thin wooden cups, and ultralight external grids in light alloy of aluminum).

Kennerton Magni (closed-back electrodynamic headphones): weight 440 g (with the new headband and a closed-back in aluminum).

A question about the Vali cable:
Can the splitter and connectors be removed, so that the cable could be re-sleeved with a softer material?
Is the splitter molded or glued to the cable? Or is it easy to remove?

I'm hoping this is true. I took a leap of faith. Was thinking about waiting for the new design in Bubinga, but I like the lighter color, too.

I do not think you are disappointed by this new Vali (2019) in curly maple wood.

Announced weight of this new Vali 2019 in Curly Maple wood: 490 g (60 g less than "the old" Vali).

New Vali 2019 taking over the Magni headband, but also with different wooden cups and different pads, and a different cable connection: mini Jack 3.5 mm x 2.

The splitter molded to the cable. Unfortunately, it will not be easy to remove the braid from the cable without visible damage. Although... you can carefully cut with a sharp knife or blade synthetic sleeve along the entire cable. And then carefully trim it around the splitter. Braided synthetic sleeve is very easy to cut. But there is a simpler option. Starting tomorrow, you can very easily order a new cable on the Kennerton website ( with 6,3mm TRS connector). All Kennerton Thror/Tridi/Odin/Vali models now use a new soft textile braided cable. And by the way, the new cable sounds much better than the old, thanks to higher quality conductors. And the price of this cable should be within 35-39 Euros.

We have this model in Bubinga, Purple Heart, Applewood, Padauk, Nothern Ash, Karelian Birch, Curly Maple, Cherry, Bog Oak. At the beginning of next week (just because we didn't have enough time to take photos of all the options for the site), all these options will be available for viewing and ordering on the website. And, at first, the price of all options will be the same. But, in my opinion, curly maple looks amazing. This is my favorite option.

Note: the relatively narrow measurement peak at 5.5 KHz and the narrow trough at 9 KHz, found on all these tracings (new Vali 2019, Magni, Utopia, Odin, new Odin 2019...), are most probably measurement artifacts, specific to the RAA measurement platform.

The new Vali 2019 should be more bass-head, darker, but also more detailed than the old Vali, not to mention its wearing comfort, which should be greatly improved. :)

Yes, to listen to classical music (neutrality is better), but this may not be the effect you are looking for to listen to dynamic music: rock/metal.
