I'm loving my Audeze LCD-2s and they are my main headphone for sure.  I'm also keeping my Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 for portable and isolation use.

I'd like to keep one more full-size pair for variety, and to have available for friends during recording projects.  I listen to and record a wide variety of music.

The headphones I'm choosing between are

Senn HD600
AKG K701
Grado SR325

Which headphone do you think is the best complement to the LCD-2, to round out my collection?

Or, if you think none of the three are even in the same league as the LCD-2, then which pair would keep for studio use?

I'm leaning towards the 600s at this point, partially just for their comfort.

Thanks!

Grado 325 is you want something that’s really the opposite of the LCD2, as a change of pace once in a while.

but, if you plan to use these for studio use, then I think sticking with the HD600 is smarter.

Sell all of them, and buy a used T1..

AKG K701 just to have a counterpoint against your 'darker' Audeze's... However for studio use, (hopefully NOT for recording right? :p) I agree on the HD600s...

(of course, you could get rid of all and just buy some Shure 940s or KRK 8400s... studio use, recording and minimal tracking/mixing)

When I had the LCD-2 I also had the sr325is, K701 and D2000.

I had bought the LCD-2 to replace all of them. But It was a hard decision. I couldn't get rid of the 325is. At the end I sold the LCD-2 (too dark and comfort issues).

But if I had not sold the LCD-2 then I would have choosen the sr325is to complement the LCD-2 without any doubt. A fun headphone for the most aggresive genres. The LCD-2 do rock and metal very well but... too much in the neutral and dark side.

For the rest music genres, the LCD-2 were clearly better than all of others (D2000, K701). I think that the HD600 can't do any better than the LCD-2 but I don't know, I haven't heard them.

Regards,
KWK.

Do you not like these for recording because they don't offer isolation?  Or some other reason?

the SR325s are ear bleeders, too bright and too piercing. i bought one and kept them for three days since they were too painful to listen to. The K701 is ok, but can sound strange with some genres.

I'd keep the HD600. Most versatile out of the three choices.

That's right.
Once I used my HD600s just to record an acoustic guitar piece and was using a metronome (from the PC --> to the interface --> to the headphones) and the sound of the metronome got recorded on the microphone pointed at the guitar (I play while sitting down lol!!) Keep in mind though, I'm no professional, just hobbyist,... :p
