and as for K240DF,the driver varifies as in different version of DF.

the second version of DF:
compared with the first version of DF, the second version is only single cabled and the driver is the same.

Are you shure, the double cabled has the original cable? It looks like recabled for me.

it seems like the one on the right would have to be the earlier version, because it uses the Sextett Baffle. The one on the left has a newer, redesigned baffle.

Sound differences? That's the most important thing

I've never heard an EP. I own a MP and LP. The difference isn't huge. I like both better than the K240M and I like the DF better than the Sextett.

The Sextetts have the most bass. The DF has the flattest FR. All of them are 600 ohms so much harder to drive than the MKII. I've not heard the S or MKII so I don't really know how they compare. Most people who have heard both 600 ohm and newer ones tend to prefer the 600 ohm ones.

Thanks

in order to open the k240, you need to pry off the badges from the sides (the gold stickers) under those are screws, everything comes unscrewed easily after that

i am not sure what you mean by 'classic' but the differences between the sextett and df are the drivers and baffles, as shown in the pictures

i wouldn't cut up your cans based on my recommendation alone they are great just how they are (and my opinions tend to change from day to day), i just have about 10 pairs, and had some parts to mess around with, if you want to try a reversible mod, there is some dense material that covers the holes on the cups of the k240 from the inside, maybe you could remove that and compare

I used classic to intend the ordinary version of the 240 (S and M actually produced) not the "special" like DF or sextett. From what i know these version are much different by the ordinary production of 240s, isn't it?

I've already tried to remove the material that covers the holes, i've noticed only more strenght in the highs

From what I've read, the big difference started with the S. It was the first non 600ohm one. I've owned all of the 600 ohm ones except and EP Sextett. They sound quite a bit alike. The differences are noticeable but not huge. Most non-enthusiasts probably couldn't be bothered to listen for the differences.

leave it to AKG to produce the same headphone for 40 years and have the world thinking it's a new design! now that's good marketing.

I'd love to hear an M version sometime. I agree Scompton, in my experience with the Sextetts, the differences between different units can be more than the difference between the models. Unless of course the EP actually is that much better. But no one else seems to think so, so I chalk it up to random goodness

I just got a brand new K240 M in a trade. Even without a proper amp I and getting decent sound. I am going to build a tube amp and then I will be able to see what these are capable of.

Yes, they can be driven quite effortless, despite the expectations.
