I just got my first pair of headphones, the beyerdynamic custom one, how long will burn in time take? The phone I am using has a built equalizer Nokia Lumia 920 if that helps.

After the burn in time, do they sound a lot better?

They don't sound amazing right now, and I want to know if that is normal for listening for only 5-6 hours

Heya,

Good headphones. They sound better than you think.

The problem is your source. You're using a phone. And that means you're (1) probably using low bitrate compressed music, and (2) utilizing a rather lower quality chipset in the phone for both your DAC and light amplification output needs. Do yourself a favor and get higher quality music, lossless if possible, or at least much higher bit rate and quality compression (eg, LAME codec MP3 for example). And then also consider simply getting yourself a discreet DAP, like a Sansa Fuze or Clip.

Burn in will change nothing. It's a psychological ritual.

Very best,

So streaming is not an option? I have to download all the music individually?

So it seems I will need to get an external source, but on my laptop they sound much better than on my phone.
