I'm using the pads that John put on (don't remember the names but premium pads on both my XTC Open and Closed and the fluffy pads on the Opus X).

Same pads for my XTC-Closed. Really comfortable and John says they are the best-sounding for what I like at least.

Just got these guys in. My wife has hogged all the time with them. John what are you doing, Man? These are WAY too cheap! LOL. I will get my time with them and will be doing a proper impressions and review. For now know that it is all there. Soundstage, details and great tembre! First impressions are positive. In the next few weeks keep your eye out for the review!

Oh no, don't say that! I'm still saving for a set. Beautiful cans 👌

I am not much of a reviewer, but I can provide my thoughts on the Squared vs eq’ed LCD-XC.
Hey I am actually looking into these VS LCD-XC and would love to hear what you think. Thank you!

JM is still building my XTC^2 so it is going to be a while before I can even attempt to make any sort of comparison.

what are the sonic differences between the XTC, 1.5, and 2? just soundstage and bass/treble levels?

also how does once decide if they need 1.5 or 2? Do you measure your ears?

It has nothing to do with the size of your ears. The bigger the cup the more air and openness to the music.

Have you heard both by any chance? I'm just curious if the larger version cuts back on dynamics and note weight, in favor of air and head room. If not, the decision seems like a no brainer.

I happened upon this thread as I was researching a potential new closed-back pair and have to say that I'm intrigued by these. I already have Aeon RT and LCD-2 closed (along with the rest of my signature) and have been looking at the 2022 LCD-XC as a possible way of combining the bass heft and grunt of the 2 closed with the 'realness' of the Aeons, but it sounds like these may fit that bill. Is that s reasonable description? I listen to all sorts of stuff with a lean towards hard rock and metal, so I value precision and sonic balance, but the bassist in me requires guts to the sound as well

Does anyone know how a Harman-tuned, beryllium XTC Closed would compare to the Audeze Maxwell, Focal Bathys, or blu-tak modded STAX L700?

Also,
JM sent me a photo of a measurement with the XTC biowool drivers. I've asked him for a measurement for the beryllium as well (hoping to see that one soon as it's the version I own). I think it'll be interesting to compare the two. I was always curious how the drivers would be different and without being able to hear them, a graph may be all I can get.
Did you get the beryllium driver measurements, @catom ?

Thanks
