Jh Audio Jolene Impressions and Discussion

Those are the ear hook wires previously embedded in the iem cable. I found them quite uncomfortable, so I stripped the heatshrink and wrapped them around. The cable is perfect now.

For a second there I really thought that these were decorative pieces or something, but after reading your post their purpose is so obvious that I feel silly now :D

Thanks!

The Cayin RU6 is the best pairing I've ever heard with JH Jolene. If you love Jolene, buy it. This is a no brainer. Not even my DMP Z1 has synergy this good.

Think of expensing the RU6 as a 'cable upgrade' for Jolene, except it does so much more than a cable.

Nice one biggie. I’m looking forward to Pearl and what will be possible for Jolene and all those DD’s there! :)

Any particular sound traits that had you sold on that combo?
It doubles down on the texture and tuning of RU6. The tuning of RU6 doesn't work on many of my iems, except those with DD's. The DD's of Jolene respond very well and the harmonics of the RU6 complement the JH house sound perfectly. When I use Jolene on 'hifi' tuned gears like DMP or the HM1000, it steps into clarity/mixing tuning. With RU6's forward presentation and mid energy, the vocals have that raw tonality which JH intendend with Jolene. Not to mention the RU6 can push those DD's with authority.

So I am going through my collection and I picked up the Jolene with Cayin N30 LE and I must say it's a great synergy  The raw power of Jolenes bass with that mid bass bump is nothing short of breathtaking for IEMs. The Stage is even bigger than with my other sources.

The Classic Tube mode, running class A / P+ in Hyper Mode provides more mid bass presence and richer textures, Jolene definitely step up several notch in my book and you can see that they have a lot more under hood that I would have thought and I have owned/own quite a few flagship DAPs but N30 LE is more like a sedentary source with Tubes 🎶. This is a better synergy than my iCan Pro Signature, more tubey so the synergy is better for my taste with a more texture and nuanced presentation. One thing that I always wished with Jolene was a bit more Soul and N30 is just the right DAP for the job!
