Thanks warp I actually thought the damping of the drivers would be beneficial to the sound; shows how much I know.

Damping tends to be selective and even if worked into a design, must be repeatable. As you probably do use the shell cavity even with BA bass drivers, there's a lot to consider without just filling the shell and as many good reasons to not use silicone.

I think for those who need the extra sound isolation, even if the sound isn't quite as good, should have an option for silicone (Shell+Internals)...maybe for the JH-5 line.

bass would be lessened and the sense of soundstage smaller, thats why. the air is used and tuned to act like an instrument.
