Definitely fake, should do straight down 25hz/20hz, listen to test-video above, the fake one sounds: flabby bass/no deep rumbles and distorted smear trebles (no fast detailed cymbals), bad dynamics worth $3.
Get the EP05: no fake found yet, I got 5x EP05 all 5x good, where-else I got 3x JC10 with 2x fakes.
I ordered EP05 from another seller. Should be here later today.

Maybe your first JC10 was a mixup.

If my EP05 is properly amped then yes. 20Hz to 20kHz all frequencies appear.
I use Qudelix 5K at high power setting. Maybe I need to adjust my expectations coming from IEMs where bass is nearly always boosted to Harmanish levels. Are these buds tuned like that or do you mean the bass is present neutral flat without emphasis?

The Ep05 is neutral flat except a slight treble boost. To put it simply. It sounds like a speaker. Like a single bookshelf speaker for the entire frequency range.

So how do these compare to something like the SONY E888? I already got a pair (2 actually) but I have to handle them pretty rough (shoving them into my pockets and then untangling them) which given the prices they ran me/go for today makes me worry.

My EP05 have arrived. I really like them. Very open sound, great details and impressive bass for an earbud. Also the build quality is amazing for the price.
I will further let it burn in for 100 hours to see how much will improve, but I already like what I hear from the box

The stock foam covers improve the bass but veils the treble a lot. Is there a 'cover' or attachment for earbuds that improve on ear seal? Thought I saw silicon O rings on AE before, maybe for this purpose?

Try this out: Put connector/cable through the side hole if possible, cut ears if not needed.

My EP05 arrived just now... I'm not very impressed, if we consider the cost... yes they sound good but nothing special out of the box. Good bass, good details but a little recessed mids. I've no other earbuds to compare with, only iems but that cost 10 time or more the EP05 so no fair comparison.
The rear grills are different between left and right earbud, the left one has smaller holes, I don't know if the drivers inside are real or fake.

Not impressed= fake. You got the fakes and with different back plate holes with different crappy sounding drivers 1 titanium and 1 pet= crap sound multiplied, just like this guy.

Very simple listen to each driver separately will have different signature. The only good ones is the beryllium dome and should sound like a full sized top headphones.

I don't know if I've fake driver, listening to only one per time they seems quite similar if not identical in signature... maybe my expectations were too high...
They don't sound bad, and for sure over their price, but nothing comparable to 100/200/300 or more iems and absolutely not comparable to my Stax L700.
They are enjoyable and very good for the price but nothing more.
I'll give some burnin and try at home with Chord Mojo and Xduoo XD05 Bal (now I'm using my MacBook Pro HP out). Let's see...
For daily use they are still good, light and comfortable, with an excellent stage and sense of air.

The thread starter is on the money here with the jc10, with one caveat, it has to be eqed. It easily beats the aria,er2xr. Wider soundstage, thicker mids, highs that roll off just before being sibilant, and the bass that hits hard and goes low. The bass is incredible. And it takes to eq really really well.Notes tend to linger a tiny bit too long though. It's also not as coherent as I would like it to be.
I wouldn't pay $1k for it. But it's definitely worth more than the $8 I paid. It's quite incredible.
You folks really need to give this a try.
Have to stress that eq is a must, add a bass shelf to bring down the sub bass.
Don't bother with the ep05.
Bye.

Was also a fitting issue for me (right ear especially)... now I'm trying to wear them with the cable passing over my ear (iem style) and is better, better fit and better sound... but non to let me shocked anyway.
