This Pres album is Great. The highlights for me are the slow tempo tunes, beautifully played.

Lovely. It's playing like this that make people forget about all that hi-fi talk and just enjoy on the music.

Might be the last to discover this classic album but I've been listening to Kenny Burrell "Midnight Blue" on repeat. If you're into vinyl and have a good setup do yourself a favor and buy the 2014 Music Matters LP. Wow.

My recent multiplay favorite, Vijay Iyer Sextet's "Far From Over." So much going on in this music, and yet never overwhelming. Superb lineup all-round, but ultimately, Iyer and Tyshawn Sorey drive the show:

IMO, in the future, Anat Cohen will be recognized as a GOAT! She's such a gifted musician
Gifted indeed, and so fluent in several musical traditions. I've been lucky to hear her live a few times, most recently with Trio Brasileiro at Kuumba in Santa Cruz CA. She's been issuing her more recent work through her Anzic label on Bandcamp, great music at a great price.

A more straight-ahead recommendation than my usual edgier favorites, but how can I not recommend Christian McBride's full of swing and heart big band? Perfect for Friday night, only lacking the clicking of glasses to take me back to the jazz club.
