Apologies in advance if I'm posting in the wrong forum:

Perhaps it's just the placebo effect, but I think that iTunes 8 seems to have much better SQ than what I remember with v7.7.

Voices and instruments seem to have more air, soundstage seems greater and dynamics seem wider. I'm using a Mac, so I can't testify to the sound of the Windows version.

Is it just me, or does anyone else agree?

iTunes was already capable of bit perfect playback... you can't improve on that.

Yes surely iTunes is just feeding bits to your sound card's DAC - I don't see how it could suddenly sound better unless you got a new sound card.
Are you sure you haven't got some kind of DSP switched on, like an EQ or surround effect, crystality thingamy, etc.? Maybe that's giving the impression of 'better' sound? Just an idea

When I have the visualizers turned on, the music sounds trippier!

See ya

Has anyone else had trouble with iT 8 dropping tag info? I now have at least several hundred songs with missing album and artist info but song titles and album art is still there.

Unbeknownst to GeeMan, in his exploration of the new software he accidentally checked "Sound Enhancer" without even knowing.

BTW, hit "/" with the new visualizer.

And also improved preformance here

Nope - no Sound Enhancer, EQ or any other similar fork in the road.

Maybe I was just in a better mood yesterday...

iTunes has been running great for me. I like that new album cover view. However, I can't figure out how to do old stuff like getting rid of the arrows on songs that lead you to the iTunes store and how to get rid of the genre column in the browser. Can anybody help?

Thanks a lot for the link!
I found it quite annoying to have the links back after an update, and no way to disable them (like before).

And there are alternatives to itunes for syncing your ipod, such as ephpod and yamipod. Or you could look at rockbox depending on what model you have.
